Aac sleeper teams

The American Athletic Conference has a bit of everything this season. From preseason favorite Houston to dark horse Memphis, there are plenty of teams that could make some noise in the conference this season. Here are a few sleeper teams that could make a run at the conference title.

Tulsa

The Golden Hurricane finished last season with a 19-13 record and return four starters from that team. They also have one of the AACs best players in guard Sterling Taplin, who averaged 15.5 points per game last season. If Tulsa can get some production from their other starters, they could be a dangerous team in the conference.

SMU

The Mustangs are coming off a disappointing 2016-17 season but they have a lot of talent on their roster. They added graduate transfer guard Jimmy Whitt from Arkansas and he should be an immediate impact player. With him and returning leading scorer Ben Emelogu, SMU has two players that can score consistently from the outside. If they can get some production from their post players they could be a tough team to beat.

UCF

The Knights had a solid season last year, finishing with a 21-12 record and reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament They return their leading scorer in B.J. Taylor and add big man Tacko Fall who is seven feet tall and should make an immediate impact in the post. UCF also has depth at guard with returners like Aubrey Dawkins and Ceasar DeJesus. If they can play well together as a team, they could be one of the best teams in the AAC this season
