The first baseman for Widener is Jake Taylor. Jake is a senior from Philadelphia, PA. He is a two-time All-American and was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Player of the Year in 2016. Jake is not only an incredible athlete, but he is also an outstanding student. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and is on track to graduate with honors.
The second baseman for Widener is Alex Rodriguez Alex is a junior from Miami, FL. He was named to the First Team All-Conference last year and led the team in hits. Alex is also a talented pitcher and has been known to throw some heat!
The shortstop for Widener is Mikey Mantle. Mikey is a sophomore from New York, NY. He was named Rookie of the Year last season and led all freshmen in batting average (.342). Mikey comes from a long line of baseball greats – his grandfather is Yankees legend Mickey Mantle!
The third baseman for Widener is Kevin Brown Kevin is a junior from Baltimore, MD. He was named First Team All-Conference last year and led the team in RBIs (49). Kevin is an extraordinary athlete and was even drafted by the MLB’s Baltimore Orioles out of high school!
The catcher for Widener is Matt Wieters. Matt is a senior from Washington, D.C.. He was named to the First Team All-Conference last year and led the team in home runs (11). Matt comes from a family of athletes – his father played basketball at Georgetown University and his sister played soccer at Fordham University

Widener’s outfield is stacked with experience and firepower, making them a force to be reckoned with on the diamond. Senior Austin Hoffman returns after patrolling centerfield and hitting leadoff for the team last season. Hoffman led the team in runs scored (37), stolen bases (17), and walks (21), while also being named to the MAC All-Conference First Team. Joining Hoffman in the outfield is junior Ryan Moran, who was Widener’s primary Left fielder a season ago. Moran is a versatile player that can hit for both power and average, as he showed last year when he slugged five home runs and hit .295.
Sophomore Brandon Dolan figures to see plenty of time in right field after playing in 30 games as a freshman. Dolan is an excellent defender that has a strong arm and good instincts in the field. Kaminer is a left-handed hitter that has a good eye at the plate and knows how to work a count. He also has good speed and stole four bases last season.
