The Infield is often referred to as the “dirt” because it is where most of the action takes place and where the majority of ground balls are hit.

The first baseman is responsible for the area on the first-Base Line from foul territory to second base. The primary role of the first baseman is to catch balls hit by the batter and throw them to another infielder to get the batter out.

The second baseman covers the area from second base to foul territory on the right side of the infield. The second baseman must be able to field balls hit by the batter and throw them to first base in order to get the batter out.

The Farm System

The farm system is the minor league system of a professional Baseball Team It is used as a way to develop young players so that they are ready to play at the Major League level. The Farm System is made up of several different levels, with each level becoming more difficult as the players progress.

The first level of the Farm System is rookie ball. This is where the youngest and most inexperienced players play. They usually have just been drafted or signed by the team, and are learning the basics of the game. The second level is Class-A, which is slightly more advanced than rookie ball.
