Auburn basketball first began in 1896, making it one of the oldest college basketball programs in the country. The Tigers have competed in the NCAA tournament 18 times and made it to the Sweet Sixteen seven times. Auburn has also won 5 SEC regular season championships and 3 SEC tournament championships. The Tigers have produced 28 NBA draft picks, including 2 top overall picks (Chuck Person in 1986 and Chris Morris in 1993).

In-state rivals:
--Alabama Crimson Tide The two schools are the only public universities in the state of Alabama and are just two hours apart, making this one of the most intense rivalries in college basketball The two teams have met 188 times on the hardwood, with Auburn holding a 97-91 lead in the all-time series.
-UAB Blazers: While not as long-standing as the rivalry with Alabama, this one has definitely made a name for itself over the past few years. The two teams have met 47 times, with Auburn leading 26-21. The animosity between these two programs really ramped up in 2014 when Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl had an expletive-laden rant directed at UAB head coach Jerod Haase after a game.
Out-of-conference rivals:
--Clemson Tigers These two programs have been playing each other since 1908 and have met 201 times on the court, with Clemson holding a 108-93 lead in the all-time series. The rivalry was put on hold for nearly 40 years from 1976 to 2014 but has been renewed recently with both teams playing each other every year since 2015.
--Georgia Bulldogs These two programs are separated by just 90 miles and have been playing each other since 1902. They have met 233 times on the court, with Georgia holding a 132-101 lead in the all-time series.
Auburn Basketball Championships
The Auburn men’s basketball team has won two SEC Basketball Tournament championships and appeared in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament 11 times.

Auburn basketball has a long and storied history, dating back to when the Tigers first took the court in 1906. Since then, Auburn has produced some of the best players in College Basketball history. These are just a few of the greats who have donned the Orange and Blue:
Charles Barkley: One of the greatest players of all time, Barkley was a two-time NCAA All-American and the SEC Player of the Year in 1984. He went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NBA, winning an NBA MVP Award and an Olympic gold medal
Chris Porter: A fan favorite during his time at Auburn, Porter was a two-time SEC sixth man of the Year and an All-SEC performer in 1999. He still holds Auburn’s career record for blocked shots.
Vincent Council: A versatile guard who could score and dish out assists, Council was named First Team All-SEC in 2012. He still holds Auburn’s single-season assist record.

Bruce Pearl – Current Head Coach Was hired in 2014 and has led the team to 3 NCAA Tournament appearances and 1 SEC regular season championship.
Cliff Ellis – coached at Auburn from 1994 to 2004. Led the team to 2 NCAA tournament appearances and 2 SEC Regular Season championships.
Sonny Smith – coached at Auburn from 1978 to 1988. Led the team to 4 NCAA tournament appearances and 1 SEC regular season championship.

Auburn Basketball Schedule
The Auburn Basketball Schedule for the 2020-21 season is released. The Tigers will look to build on their success from last season, when they finished with a record of 14-6 (5-5 SEC). Auburn will open the season at home against Linfield on November 25th. They will then play a neutral site game against Davidson on December 2nd, before beginning conference play at LSU on December 30th.
