Avonworth Baseball: Season Overview

The Avonworth Antelopes baseball team is back and ready for another season of action. After a strong showing last year, the team is looking to build on their success and make a run at the playoffs. Below is a brief overview of the upcoming season

The Antelopes will be led by a strong core of returning players, including seniors Jake Gallagher and Matt Miller. Gallagher was named First Team All-Section last year after hitting .333 with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. Miller was also named First Team All-Section, hitting . 315 with 2 home runs and 22 RBIs. Other key returners include junior pitcher Matt Zajdel and sophomore catcher Luke Gothberg.

The team will also feature several new players who are expected to make an impact, including junior infielder/outfielder Nate Bishop and freshman pitcher/infielder Drew Young. Bishop comes to Avonworth from North Catholic High School where he was a two-time All-Section player. Young was a member of the USA Baseball 18U national team last summer and is one of the top prospects in the country.

With a mix of experienced veterans and talented newcomers, the Avonworth Antelopes are poised for another Successful Season Be sure to catch them in action this spring!

Avonworth Baseball: Team Preview

The Avonworth Antelopes are ready to take the field for the 2019 season! The team is coming off a strong 2018 campaign in which they finished with a record of 15-5. The Antelopes will look to build on that success this year and compete for a WPIAL championship.

The team is led by senior pitcher/infielder Ryan Scott. Scott was an all-state selection last year after posting a 9-1 record on the mound with a 0.77 ERA. He also batted .353 with four home runs and 20 RBIs. Other Key Players include seniors Nick Azzarello (outfield/pitcher), Nate Frisch (catcher/pitcher), and Josh Miller (infield/pitcher).

The Antelopes will have their work cut out for them in 2019 as they compete in Class 4A, one of the toughest leagues in Pennsylvania. But with a strong core of returning players, Avonworth is poised for another successful season.

Avonworth Baseball: Player Spotlight

It’s been a long few months, but baseball is finally back! And the Avonworth Antelopes are ready to take the field.

This year’s team is looking strong, with a mix of veterans and newcomers. But one player who’s sure to make an impact is sophomore catcher Jake Adams.

Jake has been playing baseball since he was a little kid, and it shows in his skills on the field. He’s an ace behind the plate, with a great arm and quick reflexes. And at the plate, he’s a force to be reckoned with, hitting for both power and average.

Jake is one of the leaders on this year’s team, and he’s looking forward to helping the Antelopes compete for a championship. Be sure to keep an eye on Jake Adams – he’s sure to be one of the best players in the league!

The team will be playing its first game on May 5th against the South Fayette Lions. Come out and support your local team!

After a successful 2019 campaign that saw the team make it all the way to the WPIAL semifinals, Avonworth Baseball is back and ready to compete in 2020. The team is led by senior captain Chase Francis, who is coming off a 2019 season in which he was named first team all-section and second team all-WPIAL. Other key returners include junior catcher Nate Eckert, who was also named second team all-WPIAL, and junior pitcher Max Haney.

The teams goal for the 2020 season is to make it back to the WPIAL semifinals and beyond. The schedule will be released soon, so be sure to check back for updates!
