Since its inception in 1971, B.A.T. has awarded over $50 million in grants to more than 5,000 individuals in need. Grant recipients include those who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses, struggling to make ends meet after suffering a career-ending injury, and families who have lost a loved one who played or worked in baseball.

The Baseball Assistance Team was founded in 1986 with the goal of helping former Major League baseball players umpires, and their families who were in financial need. Since then, we have grown to become one of the largest charities in baseball.

Our mission is to provide confidential financial assistance to baseball players and staff who are in need due to illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances. We also work to raise awareness of our cause so that we can continue to help those who need it most.

To date, we have helped over 1,500 families in need and distributed over $20 million in financial assistance. We are proud to be able to say that we have never turned away a qualifying applicant.
