Since its founding in 1891, Seattle University has a long and proud tradition of basketball excellence. The Redhawks have won 12 conference championships in their history, including 7 in the last 20 years. Seattle U has also made 7 NCAA tournament appearances, with their most recent coming in 2015.

Notable Players
Seattle U has had many notable players over the years, including Elgin Baylor, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1977. Other notable players include Nate Robinson who played for the Seattle SuperSonics and Doug Christie, who played for the Toronto Raptors
Rivalries
The Seattle University Redhawks men’s Basketball team has had many different rivalries throughout their history. Some of their biggest rivals have been the Gonzaga Bulldogs the Washington Huskies and the Oregon Ducks
Venues
Seattle University has played home games at several different venues over the course of its history. The Redhawks currently play their home games at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, which has a capacity of 10,000.
The Redhawks have also played home games at the Seattle Center Coliseum, Memorial Gymnasium, and the KeyArena. Seattle University began playing basketball in 1946 and has an all-time record of 1,325-1,151 (.537).
Media Coverage
The Seattle media market is the 15th largest in the United States and is served by a variety of television and radio stations. The city is also home to a number of magazines and newspapers.
Seattle’s first television station was KIRO-TV (channel 7), which began broadcasting on December 10, 1953. The city’s second station, KING-TV (channel 5), signed on the air on September 1, 1948. KOMO-TV (channel 4) signed on the air on December 15, 1953; KCTS-TV (channel 9) began broadcasting on September 6, 1954; andKBTC-TV (channel 28) signed on the air on December 29, 1954.

Seattle U basketball fans are some of the most dedicated in the country. They are passionate about their team and show up in droves to support them. The team’s success has only increased the fan base, and they are always looking for new ways to show their support.
