What are some of your favorite NBA players from Cal doing this off-season? Here’s a quick update on some of them!
Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors is from Los Angeles CA and attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School re Playing college basketball at Washington State University After his junior year, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected 11th overall by the Warriors in the 2011 NBA Draft Thompson is a three-Ime Nba champion, a five-time NBA All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Third Team member. He has also been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team once.
Draymond Green
Draymond Green SF
Although Green missed out on a chance to defend his NBA title with the Golden State Warriors due to injury, he’s been plenty busy this off-season. In May, he released his first book, “No Mistakes: Living a Life You Love,” in which he chronicles his journey from small-town Michigan to NBA stardom. He also recently launched a clothing line called “The Victors” in partnership with Fanatics.
Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown a small forward who played for the Cal Golden Bears from 2014 to 2016, is spending his summer training with well-known basketball coach Drew Hanlen Brown has hired Hanlen to help improve his Shooting Form and increase his vertical leap. He is also working on his ball-handling skills and body conditioning in hopes of playing at an even higher level in the NBA next season.
Ivan Rabb
Ivan Rabb, who starred at Bishop O’Dowd high school in Oakland before playing two seasons at Cal, is spending his summer working out in Miami with noted trainer David Thorpe reports ESPN’s Jeff Goodman
Tyrone Wallace
Tyrone Wallace, was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft He is a 6’5″ shooting guard who played college basketball for the California Golden Bears After going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft Wallace joined the Clippers for the 2016 NBA Summer League On July 27, 2016, he signed with the Clippers.
In his rookie season, he had multiple assignments with the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League On April 7, 2017, he scored a season-high 19 points in a 103–93 win over the Phoenix Suns
On December 18, 2017, Wallace scored a then career-high 23 points in a 125–106 win over his former team, the Utah Jazz
Jabari Bird
Boston Celtics’ guard Jabari Bird is spending his off-season rehabbing from a stress injury to his left leg that forced him to miss the end of last season.
Jordan Mathews
Jordan Mathews is one of several NBA players from the University of California who are using their off-seasons to give back to the community. Mathews, who just completed his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, is hosting a Basketball Camp for local kids in his hometown of Huntersville, North Carolina
“I’m just trying to give back and help out as much as I can,” said Mathews. “I remember when I was their age and I went to camps like this, it meant a lot to me. Hopefully I can make a difference in these kids’ lives.”
Mathews is joined by fellow Cal alums Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Jabari Bird (Boston Celtics), and Ivan Rabb (Memphis Grizzlies) in hosting basketball camps this summer. Brown is holding a camp in Atlanta, while Bird and Rabb are teaming up to host a camp in Oakland.
Roger Moute a Bidias
Roger Moute a Bidias is spending his summer giving back to his home country of Cameroon. The Cal forward is hosting a Basketball Camp for kids in Yaounde, the Capital City of Cameroon. Moute a Bidias will be working with children ages 6-18, teaching them the basics of the game and helping them improve their skills. He hopes to use basketball as a way to help the kids stay active and stay out of trouble.
Darrun Hilliard
Darrun Hilliard, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, is spending his off-season in the weight room. Hilliard is looking to add muscle mass and improve his strength. He is also working on his outside shot.
Elgin Cook
Elgin Cook is currently a free agent but he played for the Milwaukee Bucks last season. He is from Berkeley, CA and went to the University of Oregon
