The Cancer Research Classic is a college Basketball Tournament played each December in Charleston, South Carolina The eight-team event benefits cancer research at the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research.

The tournament has been held since 2008, and features four games on two nights. The first night of action features a doubleheader, with the first game pitting two of the four teams from the previous year’s NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament against each other. The second game on that night features the other two teams from the NCAA tournament field.

The second night of the Cancer Research Classic features the consolation game between the two losing teams from the first night, followed by the Championship game between the two winners.

The annual Cancer Research Classic Basketball Tournament (CRCBT) is a 3-day event that features 6 Division I college basketball teams from across the country. The CRCBT has been held each year since its inception in 2008 and has raised over $1.5 million for cancer research. 100% of the proceeds from the event are donated to cancer research charities, making the CRCBT one of the most efficient and impactful sporting events in terms of charitable giving. -The tournament is open to any boys’ high school varsity basketball team in the United States
-Each team is guaranteed three games.
-The tournament will be played under NFHS rules with a 35 second shot clock
-Each team will be allowed one 30 second timeout per game.
– halftime will be 5 minutes long.
-A mercy rule will be in place (if a team is ahead by 30 points or more at the end of the 3rd quarter, the game will be over).
