A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Williams was a McDonald’s All-American and a five-star recruit coming out of High School She was ranked as the second-best player in her class by ESPN and chose to play for UConn over offers from Baylor, Notre Dame Tennessee, and Texas.

In her three seasons with the Huskies, Williams has been a key contributor on both Offense and defense She is currently averaging 16.7 points per game and is shooting 47 percent from the field. Williams is also one of the team’s best defenders, often matching up against the opposing team’s top scoring threat.

Monday’s win was yet another example of Williams’ impact on the court. She scored 12 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter to help lead UConn to victory. With Williams leading the way, the Huskies are poised to make another deep run in the NCAA tournament this year.

Uconn’s gameplan against Louisville was to stymie their opponent’s big guns and make them work for every basket. That meant plenty of pressure on Myisha Hines-Allen, Asia Durr and Sam Fuehring, and the top-ranked Huskies did just that in a 70-59 road victory Saturday.

“We wanted to make it tough on their main scorers,” Williams said. “We wanted to contest every shot and make them uncomfortable.”

Hines-Allen, Durr and Fuehring, who entered the game averaging a combined 41.4 points, were held to 15 on 6-for-29 shooting.
