The Field
The Clemson baseball team is one of the most successful collegiate programs in the country. The team has won five NCAA Division I College World Series titles, more than any other school in the nation. The Tigers have also made 28 total appearances in the College World Series second only to Arizona State’s 30 appearances.
If you’re not familiar with baseball, the game is played on a field that has four bases arranged in a diamond shape. The pitcher, who is on the field inside a circular area called the “mound”, throws the ball to the batter who is standing at home plate The batter tries to hit the ball with a bat and, if successful, must run around all four bases before returning to home plate If he makes it safely to first base, then he can continue running and try to reach second base, third base, and finally home plate A run is scored when a player touches all four bases and returns to home plate before the next player hits the ball. A player can also score by Hitting the ball over the fence that surrounds the outfield – this is called a “home run”.
The object of the game is for one team to score more runs than the other team. In order to do this, each team tries to get as many of its players on base as possible so they can score runs
