The fifth starter spot is still up for grabs between two freshmen left-handers, Jake Higginbotham and302 Brody Koerner. Higginbotham was drafted out of High School by the Texas Rangers in the 37th round but decided to come to Clemson instead. Koerner was ranked as the #9 prospect in South Carolina by perfect game coming out of high school

Shortstop Logan Davidson is the team’s top hitter, batting .349 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs. First baseman Chris Williams is second on the team in home runs (9) and leads the team with 42 RBIs. At third base, Seth Beer is one of the top power hitters in college baseball bashing 12 home runs while driving in 38 runs.

The infield also features two of the best Defensive Players in the country. second baseman Jordan Greene has a .987 Fielding percentage and has made just two errors all season. First baseman Chris Williams has a .993 fielding percentage and has seen limited time on the mound, pitching 3.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

The Outfield

Clemson’s Baseball roster is loaded with talent, especially in the outfield. The Tigers have three players who are sure to make an impact at the next level.

Leading the way is freshman phenom Bryce Harper Harper is a five-tool player who has already drawn comparisons to some of the greats of the game. He has the potential to be a true difference-maker on both Offense and defense

Along with Harper, sophomores Mike Trout and Anthony Rizzo give Clemson one of the most dynamic outfields in all of college baseball Trout is a five-tool player as well, and Rizzo is one of the best pure hitters in the country. Both players have a chance to be first-Round Draft picks in 2011.
