The Different Types of Baseball

There are many different Types of Baseball Here are just a few of them:

--Major League Baseball This is the big leagues Major League Baseball is made up of 30 teams, 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. The teams are divided into 2 leagues, the American League and the National League Each league is further divided into 3 divisions, East, Central, and West. Major League Baseball is the highest level of professional baseball in North America

--minor league baseball This is professional baseball development system. There are many levels of Minor League Baseball from rookie ball all the way up to AAA (Triple-A). Most players who make it to the Major Leagues first began their careers in the minor leagues.

--college baseball college baseball is played at the collegiate level in the United States and Canada. college baseball is governed by two bodies, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). There are 3 divisions of college baseball Division I, Division II, and Division III

--high school baseball High School baseball is played across the United States by Boys and Girls in grades 9 through 12. high school baseball is governed by State Athletic associations.

The Rules of Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two opposing teams who take turns batting and fielding. The game proceeds when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball which a player on the batting team tries to hit with a bat. The objectives of the offensive team (batting team) are to hit the ball into the field of play, and to run the bases—having its runners advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called “runs”. The objective of the defensive team (fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners’ advance around the bases. A run is scored when a runner legally advances around the bases in order and touches home plate (the place where the player started as a batter). The team that scores the most runs by the end of the game is the winner.

The Different Positions in Baseball

Baseball is played on a diamond-shaped field. The infield is the area between the four bases—first, second, third, and home plate—and the outfield is the area beyond the infield.

There are two teams, each composed of nine players. One team bats while the other team fields (plays defense). The team that’s batting tries to score runs by hitting a ball into play and then running around all four bases before the fielding team can get them out. The team with the most runs at the end of nine innings (a half-hour of playing time) wins the game.

The player who’s throwing the ball is called the pitcher, and the player who’s trying to hit the ball is called the batter. The catcher, who’s wearing special equipment to protect him from errant throws, receives pitches that aren’t hit and tries to prevent runners from stealing bases

Players who are not pitching or catching are stationed in various positions around the field. These include first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop, Left fielder center fielder, and right fielder.
