Tips for First-Time Baseball Fans
As the weather gets warmer, thoughts turn to America’s pastime: baseball! If you’re new to the sport, here are a few tips to help you enjoy the games.
First, familiarize yourself with the basics of the game. Read up on how baseball is played, or watch a game or two on television before heading to the ballpark. That way, you’ll know what’s going on when you see it in person.
Next, choose a team to root for! If you have a home team—a team that represents the city or state where you live—that’s a Great Place to start. But if you don’t have a home team choose whoever you like! There are no wrong answers here.
Finally, once you’ve chosen a team, find out when and where they play. Most teams play 81 home games and 81 away games during the course of a season, which runs from late March/early April through late September/early October. Check your local listings or visit your team’s website for more information.
So grab your favorite player’s jersey, head to the nearest ballpark, and enjoy a cold beer and a hot dog while taking in a game!
