Downers Grove North High School Basketball is committed to providing the best possible experience for our student-athletes, families and fans.

Introduction

Downers Grove North high school has a rich tradition in basketball. The varsity team has won numerous conference and State Championships and the school has produced many Division I and NBA players The school’s Basketball Program is one of the most successful in the state of Illinois.

The Team

The team is made up of fifteen young men who have worked diligently since November to improve their skills and perfect their playing as a team. They are committed to doing their best and representing their school with pride. The Coaching Staff is experienced and works hard to develop each player’s strengths.

The Schedule

The DGN Huskies basketball team has a long and impressive history of success. The team has won conference titles, state championships and produced numerous Division I college players. The 2018-2019 season is shaping up to be another great year for the DGN Basketball Program Here is the schedule for the season:

The Fans

The fans are the lifeblood of any Basketball team They provide the energy and support that can often be the difference between winning and losing.

Downers Grove North high school has some of the most passionate and dedicated fans in the state. They come to every Home game to support their team, and they are always looking for ways to improve their game-day experience.

One of the ways they do this is by creating a friendly and welcoming environment for visiting fans. They know that when opposing teams come to town, they want to make them feel at home. This helps create a sense of sportsmanship and respect between rival schools.

The fans at Downers Grove North are also very supportive of their team when they travel for away games. They often find creative ways to follow the action, even if they can’t be there in person.

Whether it’s home or away, win or lose, the fans at Downers Grove North high school are always there for their team.

The Rival

The crosstown basketball game is always a big event. The energy in the stands is palpable. The student sections are loud and boisterous, trying to will their team to victory. The game is always close, and it seems like every shot is crucial. This year, however, one team is dominating the other.

Downers Grove North high school has had a great Basketball season They have only lost two games, and those were early in the season. They have won every game since then, and their last victory was a blowout.Against their crosstown rivals, Downers Grove South, they won by thirty points. It was the biggest margin of victory in the history of the rivalry.

The students at North are ecstatic. They can’t wait to rub it in the face of their rivals. The students at South are dejected. They can’t believe that their team lost so badly. It’s going to be a long off-season for them

The Tournament

The IHSA State Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination tournament held each spring in Normal, Illinois to determine the State Champions of high school basketball in Illinois. Each year, nearly 200 schools from across the state compete in the tournament.

Downers Grove North high school has won the tournament twice, in 1989 and 1991.

The Season

The 2017-2018 season was a successful one for the Downers Grove North Varsity Basketball team. They ended their season with a record of 20-12, which was good enough for fourth place in conference and a berth in the IHSA regional tournament

It was a season of firsts for the team, as they won their first conference game in four years and also won their first regional game in school history. The team was led by senior captain Ryan Mcdonough who averaged 15 points per game Other key contributors included juniors Mikey Durkin and Luke Lissner, who both averaged double figures in scoring.

The team got off to a slow start, losing four of their first five games. However, they rebounded to win eight of their next nine games. This hot streak continued into conference play where they went 6-3 to finish in fourth place. They then won their first regional game against Benet Academy before falling to eventual state champion Glenbard East in the second round.

Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, it was a successful season for the Downers Grove North varsity basketball team They will look to build on this success next season with another strong group of players returning.

The Game

The game of basketball is a physical and mental challenge that requires stamina, agility, and teamwork. At Downers Grove North High School our basketball teams are committed to giving their best on the court and in the classroom. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to watching them grow as students and athletes.

The Aftermath

It has been two weeks since the boys’ basketball team’s heartbreaking loss in the state championship game, and the entire school is still in mourning. The players are struggling to cope with the loss, as are the coaches and staff.

The support from the community has been overwhelming, with students and parents alike reaching out to offer words of encouragement. The team has been invited to several parades and events in the coming weeks, which will help keep their spirits high.

Although they didn’t end the season on the note they wanted, the boys’ Basketball team at Downers Grove North high school had an incredible run. They made their school and community proud, and will no doubt be back next year ready to take home the state title.
