The Georgetown Baseball Program

Georgetown University’s baseball program is steeped in tradition, with a rich history dating back to the 1800s. The Hoyas have won conference championships and been to the NCAA tournament numerous times. In recent years the team has seen a resurgence under the leadership of Head Coach Joe Casey.

Casey, who played baseball at Georgetown from 1988-1991, took over the program in 2006. He knows the game inside and out, and his passion for Georgetown baseball is evident in everything he does. Under his guidance, the Hoyas have won two Big East regular season titles and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Assistant coaches Ryan Lee and Kevin McMullan round out the coaching staff Lee, a former Georgetown player himself (1985-1988), has been with the program since Casey took over as head coach McMullan joined the staff in 2013 after spending five years as an assistant at George Mason University.

All three coaches have a wealth of knowledge and experience that they bring to the ballpark every day. They are committed to teaching their players not only the basics of baseball, but also the importance of hard work dedication and determination – qualities that will help them succeed not only on the field, but in life.

The Georgetown Baseball Players

The Georgetown baseball team is coached by Kevin Gausman and Prentiss Wilson. Gausman played baseball at the University of Houston while Wilson played collegiately at Louisiana State University In addition to their playing experience, both coaches have a wealth of knowledge about the Game of Baseball

But perhaps what Georgetown is most famous for is their intense rivalries with other schools. The Hoyas have a longstanding rivalry with the University of Virginia Cavaliers which is considered one of the most bitter in college baseball They also have rivals in the Big East Conference particularly with the St. John’s Red Storm and Seton Hall Pirates. And of course, there’s always the friendly rivalry with cross-town foe George Washington University
