Georgetown Men’s Basketball Roster: The Top 10 Players

The Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball team represents Georgetown University in NCAA Division I college basketball The Hoyas have reached the NCAA tournament Final Four on five occasions. They have won the Big East conference tournament a record seven times, and have also won or shared the Big East regular season title a record ten times.

2. Jessie Govan: The 6-10 center from Queens, NY averaged 17.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game as a sophomore last season. He was named to the Big East All-Conference First Team and the All-Big East Tournament Team.

3. Jamorko Pickett (6’8”, 230 lbs.) – A Maryland native, Pickett was a four-star recruit coming out of High School who chose Georgetown over offers from the likes of Virginia, Ohio State and Marquette. He redshirted his first year on campus but made an immediate impact last season as a key reserve, averaging 4.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in just under 16 minutes per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range While he still needs to add strength and polish to his game, Pickett has the tools to be a very good player at the collegiate level and should see his role increase this season as he could potentially start at the small forward spot.

4. Mac McClung: The talented guard from Gate City Virginia comes in at fourth on our list. McClung was a highly touted recruit when he committed to the Hoyas, and he’s shown why in his two years on the Hilltop. As a freshman, McClung averaged 13.1 points per game and was named to the Big East All-Freshman team. He followed that up with a sophomore season in which he averaged 15.7 points per game and led the Hoyas in scoring. McClung is an electrifying player who can score from anywhere on the court, and he’s already become one of the most popular players in recent memory.

6. 5. James Akinjo

Akinjo (6-0, 170) averaged 13.4 points and 5.2 assists per game last season as a freshman, leading the Hoyas in both categories. He scored in double figures 25 times and had 20 or more points six times, including a career-high 28 against Marquette. Akinjo was named Big East Freshman of the Year and was a member of the All-Big East first team.

Jagan Mosely is a key player for the Georgetown Hoyas He has played an important role in the team’s success over the past few years. A versatile player, Mosely can play bothguard and forward positions. He is a great shooter and has a knack for scoring in clutch situations.

7. Qudus Wahab
The Nigeria-native only played one season at Georgetown but made a huge impact, averaging 10.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year and was a major reason the Hoyas only allowed 62.3 points per game which was the fourth-best mark in Division I. Wahab will play professionally in Turkey next season.

Mourning, a 6’10” forward from Chesapeake, Virginia, is the son of Georgetown legend and NBA great Alonzo Mourning. He averaged 8.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 28 games as a freshman last season.

Myles Dread comes in at number nine on our list of the top ten Georgetown men’s basketball players The redshirt sophomore shooting guard from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is a key player for the Hoyas, providing valuable minutes off the bench. A dangerous three-point shooter, Dread is a key part of Georgetown’s offense. He averaged 7.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game last season and will look to build on those numbers this year.

Malinowski, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard from Wilmington, Del., was named honorable mention All-Big East as a junior after averaging 10.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game He scored in double figures 22 times, including a season-high 23 points against Xavier.
