Goldey Beacom Baseball is a college baseball program that competes at the Division II level. The program is located in Wilmington, Delaware and is part of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

Since its inception in 2007, Goldey Beacom Baseball has seen a lot of success. The team has made the CACC playoffs in eight of its eleven seasons and has won two conference championships (in 2010 and 2012). In addition, the team has had seven players named to the All-CACC team, four players named to the ABCA/ Rawlings All-Region team, and two Players of the Year.

The History of Goldey Beacom Baseball

Goldey Beacom College has been home to some great baseball teams over the years. The program has seen its share of ups and downs, but the team has always been competitive.

The team has won conference championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 1998 and 1999, the team made it to the NCAA Division II World Series

The team has produced some Great players over the years. Some of the more notable alumni include:

The Coaching Staff of Goldey Beacom Baseball

Goldey Beacom Baseball has a new coaching staff for the 2020 season. Here is a look at the three coaches that will be leading the team:

Head Coach: Matt Howard
Coach Howard is entering his first season as Goldey Beacom’s head baseball coach He comes to Goldey Beacom after spending the last two seasons as an Assistant Coach at his alma mater, West Chester University. Coach Howard was a four-year starter at third base for West Chester and helped lead the team to two conference championships. He is a native of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Newark, Delaware with his wife and two young children.

Assistant Coach: Mike Campbell
Coach Campbell is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Goldey Beacom. He comes to Goldey Beacom after spending the last four seasons as Head Coach of Wilmington University’s club baseball team Coach Campbell is a native of Newark, Delaware and currently resides in Glasgow, Delaware with his wife and two young children.

Assistant Coach: Tyler Powell
Coach Powell is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Goldey Beacom. He comes to Goldey Beacom after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Wesley College Coach Powell is a native of Felton, Delaware and currently resides in Newark, Delaware with his wife and young son.

The Goldey Beacom Baseball Program

Goldey Beacom Baseball has been a Division II program for over 20 years. The team has seen success in recent years making the playoffs in 2017 and 2018. The team is coached by David Rahm, who has been with the program for 11 years.

The team plays its home games at Goldey Beacom Field, which is located on the main campus of Goldey Beacom College The field was renovated in 2016 and has a capacity of 500 fans.

The team is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), which is made up of 14 schools across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. The CACC is divided into two divisions, North and South. Goldey Beacom is a member of the South Division.

The CACC is affiliated with the NCAA Division II and holds four conference championships in baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s tennis.

The Goldey Beacom baseball facilities are some of the best in the country and allow the team to train at a high level.

Goldey Beacom college baseball typically starts their regular season in late February and will play a 56 game schedule. 30 of those 56 games are played at home in Wilmington, Delaware at Air Wilmington Stadium which has a capacity of 1,500 people. 26 of the away games are played in the Northeast.

The Roster of Goldey Beacom Baseball is composed of student-athletes attending Goldey Beacom College. These 30 student-athletes range in age from 18-22 years old. The team is made up of 26 Position players and 4 pitchers. The 30 man roster consists of 22 freshman, 5 sophomores, 2 juniors, and 1 senior.

Since the 2017 season, Goldey Beacom baseball has improved their stats in several areas. One of the biggest improvements has been their Fielding percentage In 2017, their fielding percentage was 0.965, but in 2018, it increased to 0.980. Another big improvement was their batting average In 2017, their batting average was 0.239 but in 2018, it increased to 0.264. Lastly, their ERA decreased from 5.88 in 2017 to 5.54 in 2018.

The Goldey Beacom Baseball Program is one of the most prestigious in the country. The team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by perfect game USA and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The team has won 30 conference championships and has made five trips to the NCAA Division II World Series most recently in 2016.

The team is coached by Steve Hardy, who is entering his 15th season at the helm of the program. Hardy is a two-time Conference Coach of the Year and was named National Coach of the Year in 2016 by perfect game USA. He has coaching experience at all levels of baseball, including four years as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech and one year as head coach of Team USA’s Junior national team

Hardy’s assistant coaches are former Goldey Beacom players Nick Bucci (pitching coach) and Mike Gentile (hitting coach). Gentile was named Conference Player of the Year in 2016 and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 23rd round of that year’s draft. Bucci was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2015 and played professionally for three seasons before joining Hardy’s staff ahead of the 2018 season.

The team’s roster is made up mostly of players from Delaware with a few from other states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida
