By the time he was ten, he was already considered one of the best players in his age group in New York City At fourteen, he was recruited by legendary high school coach Bob Hurley to play for St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City one of the most successful high school programs in the country.

At St. Anthony’s, Taylor quickly established himself as one of the best players in the country, regardless of age. He led his team to three consecutive state championships and was named a McDonald’s All-American as a senior. Upon graduating from High School Taylor chose to attend Duke University where he would go on to have one of the most decorated college careers in history. In his four years at Duke, Taylor won two National Championships was named National Player of the Year three times, and set numerous NCAA records for points scored and assists tallied. He left Duke as its All-time leading scorer with 4,066 points (a record that still stands today) and is widely considered to be one of the greatest College Basketball players of all time.

After an illustrious college career, Taylor declared for the NBA Draft where he was chosen first overall by his hometown team, the New York Knicks He would go on to have a successful thirteen-year career in the NBA, making eleven All-Star teams and winning two MVP Awards while leading the Knicks to six NBA Finals appearances (winning one championship along the way). When he finally retired from basketball in 2006, he did so as not only one of Harlem’s greatest sons but also as one of basketball’s all-time greats.
