The Houston Aeros

The Houston Aeros were a professional ice Hockey Team in the American Hockey League The team was located in Houston, Texas, and played their home games at the Toyota Center. The team was founded in 1994 as an expansion team, and ceased operations after the 2013–14 season.

The Aeros were one of the most successful teams in AHL history, winning the Calder Cup twice (in 2003 and 2009), and defeatiing the Chicago Wolves in the 2014 Calder Cup Finals The team also produced a number of NHL players including Antti Niemi, Tuukka Rask, Matt Niskanen, and Erik Haula.

The Texas Stars

The Texas Stars are a professional Ice Hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team began play in the 2008–09 season and is owned by the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). With the NHL relocating the former Atlanta Thrashers to become the Winnipeg Jets the Stars were left without an AHL affiliate. As a result, they reached an agreement with the Jets to take over operation of their former AHL franchise, the Manitoba Moose, who would then relocate to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

They are affiliated with the NHL’s Dallas Stars and play in the Central Hockey League The team was founded in 1996 and has won one League Championship in 2000. The Ice Bats play their home games at the Cedar Park Center, which is also home to the Texas Stars of the AHL.

The Corpus Christi IceRays

The Corpus Christi Icerays are a junior Ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The team began play in the 2011–12 season as an expansion team. Their home games are played at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi Texas.

The IceRays were announced as an expansion team on June 9, 2011. The name and logo were unveiled on September 15, 2011. On December 5, 2011, the IceRays hired former NHL player John Gibson as their first Head Coach and General Manager

In their first season, the IceRays finished with a record of 33–24–5 and qualified for the playoffs. They defeated the Topeka RoadRunners 2-1 in a best-of-five series before losing to the eventual Robertson Cup champion St. Louis Bandits four games to one in the South Division Finals.

The Odessa Jackalopes

The team was founded in 1996, and they have been based in Odessa, Texas since 2001. The Jackalopes play their home games at the Ector County Coliseum.

The El Paso Buzzards are a semi-professional Ice Hockey team based in El Paso, Texas. They are members of the Independent Hockey League (IHL), and play their home games at the El Paso County Coliseum. The team was founded in 2017 and made their debut in the 18-19 season

The San Antonio Rampage

The San Antonio Rampage are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) based in San Antonio Texas. They are currently the top affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Rampage play their home games at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage were founded in 2002 and began play as the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers In 2009, they became the top affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes. The move to San Antonio was precipitated by a dispute between then-NHL parent club, the Edmonton Oilers and their AHL affiliate, which was also located in San Antonio at the time. As a result, Edmonton moved its AHL team to Oklahoma City to become that city’s second AHL franchise.

In 2015, it was announced that the Rampage would once again be affiliated with the Panthers beginning in the 2016–17 season.

The Dallas Freeze

The Dallas Freeze are a junior Hockey Team based in North Richland Hills, Texas. The Freeze play in the South Division of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

The team was founded in 2003 as the Dallas Sabercats, and played their home games at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco, Texas. In 2009, the team was sold and relocated to North Richland Hills, where they took on the name Dallas Freeze. The Freeze play their home games at NYTEX sports centre

The team is owned by Craig Ludwig, a former NHL defenseman who played for the Detroit Red Wings Montreal Canadiens New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning Ludwig is also a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame
