The INBC is also unique in that it is the only conference in Division II that does not offer athletic scholarships instead, all of its member schools provide academic scholarships to their students.

The conference has produced some of the best players in Division II basketball over the past decade, including two-time National Player of the Year Shoni Schimmel (Choctaw Nation) and three-time All-American Alyssa Friedl (Ponca Tribe).
