“I Love Basketball and I want to stay involved with the game even when I stop playing,” she said. “Coaching would be a great way to do that.”

The 6-foot-1-inch guard is averaging 17.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three-point range. Pissott is a two-time All-American and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2019.

Pissott is not only a great basketball player but she is also a great teammate. She is always working hard to make herself and her teammates better. Penn State Head Coach Coquese Washington said, “What makes Justine special is her willingness to put the team first… She’s unselfish, she shares the ball, she defends, she rebound – she does everything for this team.”

Pissott has helped lead the Penn State women’s Basketball team to two Big Ten regular season titles and two Big Ten Tournament championships. She has also helped the team to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including two Sweet Sixteen appearances.

The Penn State women’s basketball team will face off against Seton Hall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 24th at 12:00pm ET on ESPN2.

Justine Pissott is not your average Basketball Star At just 5-feet-3, the 17-year-old might be one of the shortest players on her team, the Harrisburg Inferno, but she more than makes up for it with her skill, tenacity and heart. And, her coach says, she’s a born leader.

“Justine is an exceptional young woman,” said Coach Sarah Kohn. “Not only is she an incredible athlete, but she’s also a Great Coach and motivator.”

Pissott has been playing basketball since she was a child and says it has always been her dream to play in the WNBA. When she was just a sophomore in high school she was recruited to play for the Harrisburg Inferno, a semi-professional women’s team in Pennsylvania’s Keystone Basketball League

“It was a huge opportunity,” said Pissott. “I knew I had to make the most of it.”

And that’s exactly what she did. In her first season with the team, Pissott helped lead the Inferno to a League Championship She was named MVP of the playoffs and was selected to the All-Star team

Pissott says her favorite part of playing basketball is the camaraderie and support she gets from her teammates. “We’re like a family,” she said. “We really support and believe in each other.”

And that family feeling extends to Coach Kohn as well. “She’s not just my coach, she’s my friend,” said Pissott. “I know I can always go to her for advice, on or off the court.”

Coach Kohn says she is impressed not only by Pissott’s skill as a player, but by her dedication to coaching and helping others improve their game. “Justine is always working on her own game and trying to get better,” said Kohn. “But she also spends a lot of time working with younger players and helping them develop their skills.”

Pissott says she loves passing on what she has learned to other players and sees coaching as a natural extension of her love for basketball. In fact, after she graduates from high school next year, she plans to study sports medicine in college with the goal of becoming a physical therapist or Athletic Trainer But first, she wants to take one more shot at winning a championship with the Harrisburg Inferno.
