He was born in Queens, New York, on October 21st, 1995. His mother is of Irish descent and his father is Polish. He has two older brothers, one of which played Division I Basketball and professionally overseas. Filipowski grew up playing basketball and football. He attended St. Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, New York, where he excelled in both sports. In 2013, he was named Gatorade Player of the Year for New York State and was also a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

Filipowski then went on to play college basketball at Northwestern University As a freshman, he played in 29 games and averaged 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game As a sophomore, he improved those numbers to 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest while playing in all 31 games for the Wildcats. His junior season was his breakout year as he averaged 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range in 32 starts. He was named Third Team All-Big Ten by the media and helped lead Northwestern to its first NCAA tournament appearance in program history.

Now entering his senior season, Filipowski is looking to help the Wildcats take another step forward and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament He is considered one of the Top Players in the Big Ten and is expected to be one of the leaders on a Northwestern team that has high hopes for the 2017-18 Season

Kyle declared for the NBA draft after his freshman year but ultimately decided to return to Duke for his sophomore season.

Now a sophomore, Kyle is averaging 15 points per game and is one of the top players on Duke’s team. He is expected to declare for the NBA Draft after this season and is projected to be a lottery pick. Kyle Filipowski is a rising star in the world of basketball and has a bright future ahead of him.
