Lipscomb baseball will have a new home for the 2017 season as the school unveiled the new Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.

Lipscomb University held a press conference on Thursday to announce the construction of a new baseball field The field, which will be located on campus, is set to be completed by the fall of 2020.
“This is a great day for Lipscomb Baseball ” said Head Coach Jeff Forkner. “This new facility will give our program a huge boost in terms of recruiting and player development We can’t wait to get started on construction and get the team out on the field next season.”
The new field will replace Ken Dugan Field, which has been home to Lipscomb Baseball since 1984. The university also announced that the field will be named after longtime head coach and current athletics director Mike Stratton.
“Coach Stratton has been a part of Lipscomb baseball for more than four decades,” said Lipscomb President Randy Lowry. “He is one of the most respected coaches in the game, and we are honored to name the new field after him.”
History of Lipscomb baseball
Lipscomb baseball has a long and proud tradition dating back to the early days of the university. The team has seen many Great players come and go, and they have had their share of successes on the diamond.
The team has called several different stadiums home over the years, but their current home is at Dugan Yard on the campus of Lipscomb University The stadium was built in 2002 and has a seating capacity of 1,500.
The team has had some great seasons in recent years including a trip to the College World Series in 2008. They have also produced some great players such as pitcher Chase Frampton who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2010.

The new baseball field
On Tuesday afternoon, Lipscomb University held a press conference to unveil the stunning new state-of-the-art Baseball Field that will be the home of the Bisons starting in 2020.
The new facility, located on campus, features a brick backstop and brick dugouts, along with ribbon scoreboard in right field. The project was made possible by a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor.
Lipscomb vice president for advancement Randy Holladay said at the press conference that the university is “truly grateful” for the generous gift.
” This remarkable gift will provide our student-athletes with a world-class facility that will enable them to compete at the highest level ” Holladay said. “We are extremely grateful for the support of our donors, who make it possible for us to provide our student-athletes with an exceptional experience.”
Lipscomb baseball Head Coach Jeff Forehand also expressed his excitement for the new facility.
“This is a great day for Lipscomb baseball,” Forehand said. “We are so appreciative of the support we have received from our donors and from everyone who has helped make this facility a reality.”
Features of the new baseball field
On Tuesday, Lipscomb University held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the new Baseball Field that was completed this past offseason. The $4 million project features a state of the art lighting system, an upgraded press box, and a brand new video board in left field
Lipscomb director of athletics Mark closed out the ceremony by thanking the many donors who made the project possible. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our great donors,” he said. “We are very thankful for their generosity in making this happen.”
The Bisons will play their first Home game on the new field next Tuesday against crosstown rival Belmont.
Why a new Baseball Field was needed
Lipscomb University officials today announced that the school will be getting a new Baseball Field The old field, located at the school’s Fordham campus, had been in use since the late 1990s and had fallen into disrepair.
Lipscomb’s athletic director, Donny Daniel, said that the new field will be located on the school’s main campus and will be ready for use by the start of the 2019 season. The university is currently raising funds to build the new facility.
“This new Baseball Field will be a huge asset for our program,” said Head coach Jeff Forsythe. “It will allow us to practice and play our home games on a first-class facility.”

The future of Lipscomb baseball
The future of Lipscomb baseball has never been brighter. The Bisons Baseball Team took the field for the first time ever on their new home turf, Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium, on Feb. 16, 2019. The brand new state-of-the-art facility features 6,000 seats, a press box, clubhouses, locker rooms, and training facilities.
“This is a historic day for Lipscomb Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Philip Hutcheson. “Today begins a new era of Bison baseball and cements our commitment to provide world-class experiences for our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”
The $22 million project was funded entirely by private donations. Construction began in September 2017 and was completed in time for the 2019 season. The first phase of the project included the construction of a new grandstand with chairback seating, restrooms, concessions, and a 60-foot wide concourse. The second phase added clubhouses, locker rooms, offices, and training facilities for both the Bisons and Lady Bisons softball team
Lipscomb University President Dr. Landon Garland said the new ballpark is already having an impact on recruiting top student-athletes to Nashville. “This ballpark changes everything,” Garland said. “It changed how we recruit student athletes because now we can say we have one of the best facilities not only in the conference but in all of NCAA Division I baseball.”

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of our guys and our staff,” Forehand said. “They’ve worked so hard to get this field ready for play. It’s been a lot of hard work and it’s paid off.”
