The Lovejoy Competitive Basketball league is our league for more experienced players. This league is designed for players who want to compete at a higher level and test their skills against the best players in the area.
The Lovejoy Elite Basketball League is our league for the most experienced and skilled players This league is designed for players who want to compete at the highest level and test their skills against the best players in the world.
The Lovejoy Basketball Tournament
The Lovejoy Basketball Tournament is one of the most popular tournaments in Kansas. It is held in Independence, KS every year. The tournament attracts teams from all over the state, as well as some from out of state. The tournament is a great place to play ball and has a lot to offer everyone who participates.
The Lovejoy Basketball History
The Lovejoy Basketball History began in 1909 with the start of the school’s Basketball Program The first team was coached by Mr. Harry Stoughton and played their first game against South Side High School The Lovejoy Basketball History teams have won 15 State Championships more than any other school in Illinois.
The Lovejoy Leopards have a rich basketball tradition and have been led by some of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport. In 2009, the Leopards celebrated their 100th season of basketball. The following is a brief historical timeline of the Lovejoy Basketball Program
1909-1910: The first season of Lovejoy Basketball begins with a team coached by Mr. Harry Stoughton. The team goes 4-3 in their first season.
1920-1921: coach John Groff leads the Leopards to their first state championship with a 20-2 record.
1930-1931: Coach Raymond Houk leads the Leopards to their second state championship with an 18-4 record.
1940-1941: Coach John Groff leads the Leopards to their third state championship with a 20-5 record.
1950-1951: Coach Harold Anderson leads the Leopards to their fourth State Championship with a 25-3 record.
