How MBSA Began
The Mid-Baltimore Sports Association (MBSA) has been a staple in the athletics community since 1957. The league was established as a way for the underprivileged children of Baltimore to have a Place to Play organized baseball. In the beginning, there were only about 200 children involved in the league. Now, nearly 60 years later, MBSA has grown exponentially and supports over 2,500 kids from all over Baltimore City.
From its humble beginnings, MBSA has gone on to produce some Major League Baseball players, including Darryl Strawberry Jeffrey Hammonds, and Calvin Maduro. The league has also been recognized by the likes of Babe Ruth and President Barack Obama In 2012, President Obama even sent a congratulatory letter to MBSA for their hard work in promoting youth athletics.
