Kelly played college baseball at the University of Arkansas and was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 2014, appearing in 10 games. He spent most of 2015 with the Memphis Redbirds the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate, and batted .315/.382/.446 with seven home runs and 49 RBIs in 106 games. He also played in one game for the Cardinals that year.
The following year, 2016, Kelly played for both the Cardinals and the Redbirds. In 39 games for the Cardinals, he batted .272/.333/.386 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. For Memphis, he batted .260/.329/.397 with four Home Runs and 33 RBIs in 108 games.
Kelly started 2017 back with Memphis, but was called up to St. Louis on May 16 when infielder Jhonny Peralta was placed on the 10-day disabled list He appeared in 37 games for the Cardinals that season, batting .237/.271/.383 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.
Kelly spent most of 2018 back in Triple-A, playing 117 games for Memphis and batting .229/.297/.358 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs. He was called up to St. Louis on September 1 when rosters expanded and appeared in four games for the Cardinals that September, going 2-for-5 (.400) at the plate.

Michael Kelly was an American baseball player He played for 15 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1884 to 1898. He was one of the stars of the sport during the 1890s.
During his career, Kelly had a batting average of .308, which is still among the top 100 in MLB history. He also had 2,368 hits, 1,018 runs scored and 1, Kroner over his career. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945.
Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1863. He played baseball growing up and began his professional career in 1884 with the Toledo Blue Stockings of the American Association (AA). After two seasons with Toledo, Kelly moved to the New York Mets of the National League (NL) for one season. He returned to the AA for four seasons before rejoining the Mets in 1890.
During his time with New York, Kelly helped lead the team to consecutive AA titles in 1890 and 1891. In 1892, he was part of a group of players who were accused of fixing games during the season. Although he was never found guilty of any wrongdoing, Kelly’s reputation was forever tarnished by the scandal and he left baseball shortly thereafter.
He attempted a comeback in 1895 but only played in two games before retiring for good. After his playing career ended, Kelly worked as a coach and umpire. He also opened a baseball school in Chicago.
Kelly died in St Louis, Missouri, in 1934 at the age of 70.
