Introduction

The Michigan State Spartans women’s Basketball team represents Michigan State University in the Big Ten Conference of NCAA Division I. The Spartans have won two conference championships and made sixteen appearances in the NCAA tournament including four Sweet Sixteen appearances and one trip to the Elite Eight.

Kayla Jansen

Kayla Jansen is a sophomore on the Michigan State Spartans women’s basketball team Originally from GRand Rapids Michigan, Jansen is a 6’3″ center who averaged 4.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Nia Clouden

Nia Clouden is a 5’9″ freshman guard from Canton, Michigan. She was ranked as a top-100 player in the nation by ESPN coming out of High School She averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists as a senior.

Taiyier Parks

Parks, a 5-10 guard from Detroit, Michigan, was a key member of the 2018 state championship team at Edsel Ford HS. As a senior, she averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game She was named to the All-State Second Team by the Detroit Free Press and was also named All-Middle/Inner City First Team by the Detroit News. Parks played AAU ball for The Family out of Ypsilanti, Mich.

Joanna “Jo” Smith

Joanna “Jo” Smith is a redshirt sophomore guard on the Michigan State Spartans women’s Basketball team Jo is from East Lansing Michigan and attended East Lansing high school where she was a four-year starter on the Varsity Basketball team. As a senior, she averaged 18 points, five rebounds and four assists per game Jo was named to the all-state team and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

Jo chose to attend Michigan State University because of the strong academic reputation of the school and because she wanted to stay close to home. She is majoring in communications and hopes to one day work in sports broadcasting

On the court, Jo is known for her shooting ability. She is a talented three-point shooter and has the ability to score in a variety of ways. Jo is also a good defender and rebounder for her size.

As a redshirt sophomore, Jo has played an important role on the Spartans team that has made it to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history.

Victoria “Vic” Reynolds

Victoria “Vic” Reynolds is a 6-foot-3 senior center on the Michigan State University women’s basketball team She is from Battle Creek Michigan and attended Harper Creek high school where she was a three-time all-state selection. Reynolds was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Michigan as a senior.

Reynolds has been a key player for the Spartans during her four years at MSU. As a freshman, she started 29 games and averaged 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game She has continued to improve throughout her career and is now averaging 11.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a senior. Additionally, Reynolds is shooting a career-best 52 percent from the field this season.

Reynolds has helped lead the Spartans to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2015. She will look to help MSU make another deep run in the tournament this year as they try to win a National Championship

Alyza Winston

Alyza Winston is a 5’9” guard from Detroit, Michigan. Alyza is a sophomore at Michigan State University As a freshman, she played in all 33 games for the Spartans, averaging 3.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

Bra’Shey Ali

Bra’Shey Ali (20) is a 5-7 guard from Chicago, Illinois. She appeared in all 34 games as a freshman, averaging 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

Madison Williams

Madison Williams is a freshman guard on the Michigan State Spartans women’s basketball team She is from Detroit, Michigan and attended Detroit Edison public school Academy. Williams was a highly touted recruit, ranked as the #44 player in the nation by ESPN. She has already made an impact on the Spartans, averaging 8.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Williams is known for her shooting ability and her defensive tenacity. She hopes to help lead the Spartans to a deep run in the NCAA tournament this season.
