The team has undergone many name changes over the years, but has always been known as a competitive and hard-nosed squad. They have won numerous championships, including the World Series in 1884 (as the New Orleans Pelicans) and 1888 (as the New York Giants).

After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, the team was resurrected in 2006 and has been playing ever since. They are currently a member of the Independent League and are one of the most successful teams in that league, winning four championships since their return.

On the field, the Privateers have assembled a talented roster of players from all over the country. The team’s core group of players includes pitchers Mattison Houser and Liam Deery, who were both drafted in the 2018 MLB Draft Additionally, the Privateers have several players with experience in professional baseball including catcher Mike Marjama (Chicago White Sox), infielder Chase Lambert (Baltimore Orioles), and outfielder Jason Den Dekker (New York Mets).

The mood in the Superdome was dark, and there was little to do but wait and hope. But on September 9, something happened that lifted the spirits of everyone in the shelter: a group of men showed up to play baseball

Baseball may seem like a trivial thing in the face of such devastation, but for those who were living through it, it was a moment of hope and joy in an otherwise dark time.

The team’s colors are green and gold, and their mascot is angreen alligator named Gator.
