New Prague Hockey is a tradition of excellence. We have a long history of success on the ice, and our players have gone on to enjoy success at the highest levels of the game. Our goal is to continue that tradition by developing well-rounded players who are prepared to succeed at the next level.

New Prague Hockey is a tradition of excellence dating back to the early 1900s. The New Prague Hockey Club was founded in 1901, and its first game was played against the St. Paul Athletic Club. The game ended in a tie, but New Prague went on to win the next six games.
In 1903, New Prague made its first trip to the National Championships where they finished in second place. The following year, they won the National Championship They would go on to win it again in 1905, 1906, 1907, 1909, and 1910.
During this time period, New Prague became known as one of the top Hockey teams in the country. They were frequently featured in newspapers and magazines, and their games were often broadcast on radio. In fact, one of their most famous players, goaltender Babe Dye, became the first professional hockey player to be featured on a Wheaties box
Today, New Prague hockey is still going strong. The High School team has won multiple State Championships and the youth program is thriving. The tradition of excellence started by the original New Prague Hockey Club continues on to this day.

The program has produced numerous State Tournament appearances and championships, and has consistently been one of the top teams in the state. New Prague Hockey is dedicated to developing its players to their fullest potential and providing them with the opportunity to compete at the highest level The program is committed to providing a positive, competitive environment where players can learn and grow as Hockey Players and people.
The New Prague Hockey Tradition
New Prague hockey has a long and proud tradition of excellence. The community has produced some of the best hockey players in the country, and the team has been a perennial powerhouse at the state and national levels.
The New Prague Hockey Association was founded in 1903, and the team has been one of the most successful in Minnesota history. They have won 12 state championships and 7 national championships, and they have produced numerous NHL players including Hall of Famer Frank Brimsek.
The team is currently coached by Jeff Prowse, who has led them to 3 State Championships in his tenure. The New Prague hockey community is passionate about their team and their tradition of winning, and they are sure to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

New Prague’s success is due in large part to the commitment of its players and coaches The team’s training regime is intense, and its players are some of the most skilled and dedicated in the country. New Prague Hockey: A Tradition of Sportsmanship
New Prague Hockey has been a tradition of excellence since Reed Chapmanfounded the program in 1954. In the early years, the team was known as the New Prague Cardinals, and they won four State Championships between 1956 and 1962. The team was renamed the New Prague Lakers in 1963, and they have won three more State Championships since then.
The Lakers are known for their sportsmanship as well as their winning ways. They have been awarded the Frank Brimsek Trophy, given to the Minnesota high school team with the best record of sportsmanship, 12 times. That is more than any other school in the state.
The Lakers have had many great players over the years, including Dick Mullen, who played for the United States Olympic team in 1980; Neal Broten, who played for the United States Olympic team in 1980 and won a gold medal and Phil Housley, who is one of only nine American-born players to have played in 1,000 NHL games
The tradition of excellence continues today with Head Coach Mark Jackson, who played for the Lakers from 1985 to 1987. Under his leadership, the Lakers have won two more state championships in 2010 and 2012. The future looks bright for New Prague Hockey!

Over the years, New Prague Hockey has produced many outstanding teams and players. The program has won 12 state championships more than any other high school in Minnesota. In addition, numerous New Prague Hockey players have gone on to play college hockey including four who have played in the NHL.
