In New Mexico, there are four classifications for high school basketball teams 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. The teams are divided up by enrollment, with 1A having the smallest schools and 4A having the largest.

So far this season, the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) district leads in terms of wins and losses for all four classifications. In 1A, APS schools are a combined 12-2; in 2A, they are 15-3; in 3A, they are 19-4; and in 4A, they are 20-3.

The Rio Rancho Public Schools (RRPS) district is second in terms of wins and losses for all four classifications. In 1A, RRPS schools are a combined 10-4; in 2A, they are 14-5; in 3A, they are 16-7; and in 4A, they are 18-5.

The Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) district is third in terms of wins and losses for all four classifications. In 1A, SFPS schools are a combined 9-5; in 2A, they are 11-8; in 3A, they are 14-11; and in 4A, they are 17-8.

The 2019-2020 high school Basketball season in New Mexico is well underway, and there are a few clear winners and losers so far.

In the Albuquerque area, Eldorado and La Cueva are off to the best starts in Class 5A, while Santa Fe High is struggling at the bottom of the standings. In Class 4A, Los Lunas is undefeated so far, while Grants and Miyamura are still looking for their first wins.

Down in southern New Mexico, Mayfield and Oñate are unbeaten in District 3-6A play, while Gadsden and Las Cruces High are still searching for their first district victories. In District 3-5A, Chaparral is off to a hot start, while Carlsbad is still looking for its first win.

3. Santa Fe: The Santa Fe Demons are having a solid season so far with an 11-7 record. They are currently ranked No. 3 in Class 5A and could be a dark horse candidate for the state title if they can string together some wins in the playoffs.

Some other schools that are worth mentioning include Hope Christian (15-5), Manzano (14-6), Clovis (13-7), andFarmington (12-8). These teams have all had solid seasons so far and could make some noise in the playoffs as well.

Rio Rancho High School The Rams are off to a great start with a 9-1 record. Their only loss so far has been to Valley High School

Valley High School The Vikings are also off to a great start, with an 8-1 record. They have not lost since their first game of the season against Rio Rancho.

La Cueva high school The Bears are 7-2 on the season and their only losses have come against Rio Rancho and Valley.

Farmington High School The Scorps are 5-5 on the season. They have wins over some tough teams, including La Cueva and Valencia, but they have also lost to some tough teams like Cleveland and Eldorado.

Albuquerque High School The Bulldogs are 4-6 on the season. They had a rough start, losing their first four games, but they have since won four in a row.
