The Northern Michigan University men’s Hockey Team is composed of 21 student-athletes, all of whom play an integral role in the team’s success.

Alex Jawarowski, Senior, Center
A native of Lansing, Mich., Jawarowski is in his fourth and final season with the Wildcats. He has appeared in 124 career games, totaling 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists). Jawarowski is a versatile player who can contribute offensively and defensively. He is a good faceoff man and penalty killer.

Brendan Warren, Senior, Left Wing
Warren, from Carp, Ontario, is also in his fourth and final season with NMU. He has played in all 125 games of his collegiate career, tallying 49 points (24 goals, 25 assists). Warren is one of the team’s most experienced players and a leader on and off the ice. He is a good two-way player who can be counted on in all situations.

CJ McGee, Sophomore, Right Wing
McGee is a sophomore from Chicago who is in his second season with the Wildcats. He appeared in 40 games as a freshman, tallying eight points (five goals, three assists). McGee has good size and dexterity and uses both to his advantage on the ice. He has a nose for the net and is continuing to develop into a dangerous offensive threat.

The NMU Hockey team is excited to announce their new recruits for the upcoming season!Heading into the season, the team has added three new forwards, one defenseman, and one goaltender to their roster.

Forwards:
-Max Colin: Prior to joining the NMU hockey team Colin played for the University of Michigan In two seasons with the Wolverines, Colin tallied 9 goals and 15 assists in 66 games.
-Trevor Janicke: Janicke comes to NMU after spending two seasons with the University of Notre Dame In his time with the Fighting Irish, Janicke tallied 11 goals and 11 assists in 61 games.
-Hudson Fasching: Fasching joins NMU after a four-year career with the University of Minnesota In his time with the Golden Gophers Fasching tallied 42 goals and 61 assists in 158 games.

Defenseman:
-Christian Wolanin: Wolanin joins NMU after spending two seasons with the University of North Dakota In his time with the Fighting Hawks, Wolanin tallied 4 goals and 10 assists in 74 games.

Goaltender:
-Atte Tolvanen: Tolvanen comes to NMU after spending two seasons with Lake Superior State University In his time with the Lakers, Tolvanen posted a record of 19-10-4, a .917 save percentage and a 2.48 GAA.

NMU Hockey Roster: The Team’s Schedule

The NMU hockey roster is set for the 2019-2020 Season The team will have 22 games at home and 18 on the road. The team’s first game is October 5, 2019 against Lake Superior State University. The home opener is October 12, 2019 against Michigan State University The complete schedule is below.

NMU Hockey Roster: How the Team Stacks Up Against Its Competition

Heading into the 2019-20 season the NMU hockey team is primed and ready to take on all challengers. The team is coming off a successful 2018-19 campaign in which they finished with a record of 21-12-5, good for second place in the WCHA.

This season, the team will be led by senior captain Troy Loggins, who is coming off a year in which he led the team in scoring with 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists). Also returning are junior forwards Adam Rockwood and Luke Morgan, who were second and third on the team in scoring last year with 39 and 38 points respectively.

The team will also have a new look on defense this season, as they will be without two of their top blueliners from last year in Jordan Klimek and Robby Jackson. However, they do return junior defenseman Phil Beaulieu, who was named to the WCHA All-Conference Second Team last year. In goal, the team will have a new face between the pipes as Atte Tolvanen has graduated and moved on to professional hockey Taking over for him will be freshman Reid Ellingson, who comes to NMU after spending last season playing for the United States Hockey League’s Tri-City Storm.

With a mix of experience and youth, the NMU Hockey team is poised to make another run at the WCHA title this season.

Forwards:
-Senior captain explayer Austin McKay is a hard-nosed player who brings a wealth of experience to the team. He’s a gritty player who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and he’ll be looked upon to provide leadership and production on the offensive end.
-Sophomore speedster Matt Recchi is one of the quickest players on the team and he uses that speed to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. He had a breakout rookie season and will look to build on that success in his second year with the team.
-Freshman forward Parker Lindgren is an offensive dynamo who has the ability to change the game with his goal-scoring prowess. He’s expected to make an immediate impact on the offensive end and should see ample ice time as one of the team’s top scoring threats.

Defensemen:
– Senior blueliner Ryan Daulton is a steady presence on the back end who has good size and isn’t afraid to use it. He’s not going to light up the score sheet but he’s a reliable defensive defenseman who will play big minutes for the team.
– Junior rearguard Joe Faust is an excellent skater with good vision and an offensive upside. He QBs the Power play and is one of the team’s top puck-moving defensemen.
– Sophomore Keegan Miller is a stay-at-home defenseman who plays with an edge. He’s not afraid to drop the gloves and he brings a physical presence to the back end.
