He is coming off a junior season in which he posted a 3.50 ERA and struck out nearly a dozen batters per nine innings pitched.

Doe will be joined in the rotation by junior right-hander Jane Smith. Smith had a breakout season as a sophomore, posting a 2.70 ERA and striking out more than eight batters per nine innings pitched. She will look to build on that success in her junior campaign.

At second base is junior Levi Gilcrease. Gilcrease is a transfer from Howard College. He hit .351 with 7 home runs and 36 RBIs last season. He has good speed and should provide a spark at the top of the lineup. Defensively, he has good range and should be solid up the middle.

Mazara is coming off a breakout year in which he hit .266 with 20 home runs while Gallo is a perennial home run threat who will look to build on his career-best numbers from last season (.253, 42 HR).

The four-year Head Coach of the University of North Texas Baseball team is Mike Jeffcoat. He has led the Mean Green to two conference championships and three NCAA tournament appearances in his time at UNT. His team is coming off a season in which they won 32 games and lost 22.

The North Texas baseball team will open its season on February 14th with a three-game series against the University of Texas-Pan American The team will then travel to Baton Rouge Louisiana to take on Louisiana State University in a three-game series. The Mean Green will play their first home games of the season on February 28th, when they host the University of New Orleans for a three-game set. conference play will begin on March 7th, when North Texas welcomes the University of Texas at Arlington to town for a three-game series.
