Conference USA Basketball Predictions: Who Will Win It All?

Conference USA is wide open this season, with no clear favorite to win the title. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make some educated predictions about who will come out on top.

Who do you think will win the Conference USA Basketball title this season?

Introduction

The 2020 Conference USA Basketball season is finally upon us and there is plenty of excitement surrounding the conference. With so many talented teams and players, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will come out on top. In this article, we will make our predictions for who we think will win the conference championship

We have narrowed it down to four teams that we think have the best chance to win it all: the UTEP Miners the Old Dominion Monarchs, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Marshall Thundering Herd

UTEP:
The Miners are coming off a strong 2019-2020 Season in which they finished with a 23-8 record (13-5 in conference play). They have a talented core of players returning, led by senior guard Evan Gilyard II.UTEP also has a new Head Coach in Rodney Terry, who has plenty of experience leading successful basketball programs We think the Miners have what it takes to win the Conference Championship this season.

Old Dominion:
The Monarchs are coming off a disappointing 2019-2020 season in which they finished with a 12-20 record (6-12 in conference play). However, they do have a new head coach in Bryan Woodbury and he is inheriting a team with plenty of talent and experience. We think Old Dominion will be much improved this season and will be one of the contenders for the conference title

Western Kentucky:
The Hilltoppers are coming off a strong 2019-2020 season in which they finished with a 24-10 record (14-4 in conference play). They return most of their Key Players from last season, including leading scorer Taveion Hollingsworth. Western Kentucky also has a new Head Coach in Rick Stansbury, who has plenty of experience leading successful basketball programs We think the Hilltoppers have what it takes to win the conference championship this season.

Marshall:
The Thundering Herd are coming off an up-and-down 2019-2020 season in which they finished with a 21-14 record (9-9 in conference play). They do have some key players returning from last season, including guard Jarrod West. Marshall also has a new Head coach in Dan D’Antoni, who is known for his innovative offensive style of play. We think Marshall has what it takes to surprise some people and win the conference championship this season.

Who Will Win It All?

In basketball, as in life, anything can happen. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make some educated guesses about who will come out on top in Conference USA this season. Here are our predictions for the top four teams in the conference, as well as a few dark horses that could make some noise come March Madness time.

1. Old Dominion Monarchs
The Monarchs have been one of the most consistent teams in Conference USA over the past few years, and they look poised to make a run at the title again this season. Senior guard Trey Porter is one of the best players in the conference, and he’ll be flanked by a solid supporting cast that includes junior forward Xavier Green and senior guard Ahmad Caver. If they can stay healthy and avoid any major upsets, the Monarchs should be in good shape come tournament time.

2. UTSA Roadrunners
The Roadrunners are coming off a disappointing 18-19 season but they’ve got a talented team that should be able to Bounce Back in a big way this year. Junior guard Jhivvan Jackson is one of the best scorers in the country, and he’ll have plenty of help from fellow juniors Keaton Wallace and Atem Bior. UTSA also has a new head coach in Steve Henson, who should be able to get the most out of his talented roster.

3. UAB Blazers
The Blazers have been one of the best teams in Conference USA for several years now, and they look poised to make another run at the title this season. Senior guard Zack Bryant is one of the best players in the conference, and he’ll be joined by a solid supporting cast that includes junior forward Lewis Sullivan and sophomore guard Tyreek Scott-Grayson. If UAB can avoid any major upsets, they should be in good shape come tournament time.

4. Southern Miss Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles are coming off a disappointing 2018-19 season, but they’ve got a talented team that should be able to bounce back in a big way this year. Senior guard Cortez Edwards is one of the best players in Conference USA, and he’ll be joined by a solid supporting cast that includes junior forward Anthlon Bell and sophomore guard Tyree Griffin. If Southern Miss can stay healthy and avoid any major upsets, they should be in good shape come tournament time

Conference USA Tournament

The Conference USA Tournament will take place from March 11-15 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. The tournament is a double-elimination format and all games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Here are my predictions for the Conference Tournament

First round:
(8) Louisiana Tech vs. (9) North Texas
The Bulldogs come into the tournament as the eighth seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 15-17 (8-10 in Conference USA). They are led by junior guard DaQuan Bracey, who averaged 16.1 points, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

I think they will have a tough time against ninth-seeded North Texas who finished the regular season with an 18-14 record (9-9 in Conference USA). The Mean Green are led by senior guard Roosevelt Smart, who averaged 23.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season. I think Smart will be too much for Louisiana Tech to handle and North Texas will win this game by double digits.

Prediction: North Texas wins 74-62

NCAA Tournament

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament also known and branded as NCAA March Madness is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States currently featuring 68 college basketball teams from the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the National Championship The tournament was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and was the idea of Ohio State University coach Harold Olsen. Played mostly during March, it has become one of the most famous annual sporting events in the United States

The Tournament Teams include champions from 32 Division I conferences (which as of 2019 means all teams that have won their Regular Season conference championship), and 36 teams which are awarded at-large berths. These “at-large” teams are chosen by an NCAA selection committee announced on Selection Sunday, then announced to the public on CBS on that same day. The 68 teams are divided into four regions and organized into a single-elimination “bracket”, which pre-determines, when a team wins a game, which team it will face next. Each team is “seeded”, or ranked, within its region from 1 to 16. After an initial four games between eight lower-ranked teams, the tournament occurs during the course of three weekends, at pre-selected neutral sites across the United States During this process, which is often referred to as March Madness or The Big Dance, 64 of the 68 teams are eliminated from play.

Final Four

The top four seeds in this year’s Conference USA Basketball Tournament are Memphis, Tulsa, UAB, and Louisiana Tech The tournament will be held from March 8-11 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Who will win it all? It’s tough to say, but our experts have narrowed it down to two teams: Memphis and Tulsa. Here’s a look at why these two teams are the favorites to come out on top.

Memphis: The Tigers are the regular season champions and they’re led by one of the best players in the conference, freshman point guard Ja Morant. They’re also one of the highest scoring teams in the league and their defense is among the best.

Tulsa: The Golden Hurricane are coming into the tournament on a hot streak, having won eight of their last ten games. They’re also well-rounded, with a balanced offense that can score inside and out, and a defense that’s been playing very well lately.

Championship

Conference USA is one of the most competitive conferences in college basketball It’s always tough to predict who will come out on top, but we think this year’s championship will be won by the Memphis Tigers

The Tigers have a deep and experienced roster that includes several players who have been to the NCAA tournament before. They also have one of the best coaches in the country in John Calipari

We think the Tigers are the team to beat in Conference USA this year and predict they will win the championship.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the favorite to win the Conference USA men’s Basketball Tournament is the Old Dominion Monarchs. The Monarchs have a strong team that is battle-tested and ready to make a run in the tournament. They will be a tough out for any team that they face.
