Looking to join in on the Point Loma basketball fun? Here’s what you need to know! Point Loma’s Basketball Program is divided into three divisions: men’s, women’s, and co-ed. Each division plays a different style of basketball, so be sure to choose the one that’s right for you.

The men’s division is the most competitive, and games are typically played full-court. The women’s division is less competitive and often played half-court. Co-ed games are a mix of both styles, and tend to be the most relaxed.

Once you’ve chosen a division, sign up for a team! You can either join an existing team or create your own. then it’s time to hit the court!

History

Point Loma Nazarene University has a long and illustrious history in basketball. The school has a rich tradition of success on the court, winning multiple conference championships and producing many successful players. The program is also known for its intense rivalries, particularly with nearby San Diego State University

The Point Loma basketball team first began competing in the late 1800s and quickly established itself as one of the premier programs in the region. The team has won numerous conference championships over the years and has produced many successful players, including two-time NBA All-Star James Worthy

The Point Loma Basketball team competes in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is a member of the Pacific West Conference (PacWest). The team plays its home games at the Golden Gymnasium on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University

Rules

Equipment

In order to play basketball there is certain equipment you will need.
Each player needs a basketball. The ball can be inflated to different levels of hardness, depending on the player’s preference.
Players also wear sneakers to protect their feet and help with traction on the court.
It is recommended that players wear athletic clothing that allows them to move easily. Jerseys or shirts and shorts are common attire for basketball players
Lastly, protective gear such as mouth guards and glasses may be worn by some players.

Tournaments

The Point Loma Basketball Tournament is an annual event that takes place in San Diego California. It is a 3-on-3 tournament that is open to all comers. There is no entry fee, and the winner of the tournament receives a cash prize. The tournament is organized by the Point Loma Athletic Club and has been held for over 25 years.
