Spring is finally here, and with it comes the return of America’s Favorite Pastime – baseball! The Roanoke Valley’s very own minor league team the Roanoke Rapids placement, is back for another season of hard-hitting fun. And this year, they’re better than ever!

With a revamped roster and a new manager at the helm, the Rapids are looking to make some noise in the league this season. So come on out to historic Haley Toyota Field and catch some of the best up-and-coming talent in Baseball Today The first Home game of the season is this Friday – don’t miss it!

The Team

The Virginia Roanoke baseball team is made up of thirty-five exceptional young athletes These young men hail from all over the state of Virginia, with several from the Roanoke area. They are coached by Justin Zwicky, who has been with the team since its inception in 2011. The team competes in the Coastal Plain League a wood bat Summer League made up of collegiate players from all over the country.

The Fans

The fans are what make any team, and Roanoke baseball is no exception. The dedicated and passionate fans of the Roanoke Valley have been supporting their team through thick and thin, and they are finally being rewarded. The team has turned things around, and they are on their way to the playoffs.

The games are played with a lot of intensity and the fans are always out in full force, cheering their team on.

The other big rivalry in the Blue Ridge League is between the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs and the Winchester Royals. These two teams are also very close to each other, with Roanoke only being about 30 miles from Winchester. The fans of these two teams also really don’t like each other and the games between them are always very intense.
