The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s Basketball team will look to continue their success from last season with a new roster. While they lost some Key Players to graduation, they have a talented group of newcomers that will help make an impact.

Head coach Dawn Staley has announced the addition of five players for the upcoming season The class is headlined by Aliyah Boston, who is ranked as the No. 1 player in the country by ESPN Hoopgurlz She joins fellow ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 recruits Zia Cooke and Brea Beal in the class.

Rounding out the class are Destanni Henderson and Ariel Johnson. Henderson is a point guard from Florida who was ranked as a top-25 player in her state.Johnson is a wing player from Virginia who was named First Team All-District as a junior.

The Gamecocks will look to defend their SEC regular season and tournament titles, as well as make a deep run in the NCAA tournament

The South Carolina women’s basketball team will begin their season on November 5th against North Carolina A&T. Their schedule is as follows:

The University of South Carolina women’s Basketball team is set to begin their season on November 7th against North Carolina The Gamecocks will look to build off of their 22-9 (11-5 SEC) record from last season in which they made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament

This season, the team will be led by their senior co-captains, Tyasha Harris and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan. Harris was named to the preseason All-SEC team and is coming off of a season in which she averaged 12.9 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from three-point range Herbert Harrigan is USC’s leading returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 14.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season.

The Gamecocks will look to replace the production of A’ja Wilson, who was the number one overall pick in this year’s NBA draft as well as All-SEC guard Bianca Cuevas-Moore who graduated this past May. They will do so with a talented group of newcomers including five-star recruits Aliyah Boston and Zia Cooke as well as four-star recruit Brea Beal.

The team is coached by Dawn Staley, who is in her ninth season as Head Coach of the Gamecocks. The team’s leading scorer is Alaina Coates, who is averaging 17.6 points per game Other key members of the team include A’ja Wilson, Tiffany Mitchell and Bianca Cuevas-Moore.

*Jayla Adams – Jayla is a 5’8″ guard from Spartanburg, SC. She is a powerful and speedy guard who can shoot from anywhere on the court.

*Victoria Vivians – Victoria is a 6’1″ forward from Carmel, IN. She is a versatile player who can score inside and out. She is also an excellent rebounder.

*Tyasha Harris – Tyasha is a 5’9″ guard from Noblesville, IN. She is an outstanding ball-handler and defender with a great shooting touch.

*Allisha Gray – Allisha is a 6’0″ forward from Sandersville, GA. She is a strong, physical player who excels in the post. She is also a very good rebounder.

*Kaela Davis – Kaela is a 6’2″ guard from Suwanee, GA. She is an explosive scorer who can shoot from long range or take it to the basket.

The official website for the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team The Gamecocks compete in Division I of the NCAA and are members of the SEC. The team is currently coached by Dawn Staley.

The Gamecocks have appeared in the NCAA tournament 26 times. Their most recent appearance came in 2019, when they defeated North Carolina in the first round before losing to Maryland in the second round. The team’s best finish came in 2015, when they reached the Sweet Sixteen

The team has had four head coaches since its inception: Staley (2008-present), Nancy Williams (2005-08), Susan Walvius (1996-2005), and Mary Lycett (1982-96).

The South Carolina women’s basketball team represents the University of South Carolina in NCAA Division I competition. The Gamecocks compete in the Eastern Conference They are currently coached by Dawn Staley.

The team has never won a conference championship but has made eleven appearances in the NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Championship including two Final Four appearances. As of the end of the 2016–17 season, South Carolina has an all-time record of 735–430 (.631).
