The team was founded in 1998 and has been one of the most successful minor league baseball teams in recent years In their first year, they won the Arizona Rookie League Championship In 2001, they won the Class A short-season Northwest League Championship In 2004, they won the Single-A California League championship. The Sabre Dogs Baseball team’s season runs from late May until early August. During this time, the team plays a total of 60 games, 30 of which are home games and 30 of which are away games. The team plays its Home Games at J.P. Riddle Stadium, which is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina The stadium has a capacity of 4,000 people and features a concessions stand, a souvenir shop, and a picnic area.
The Sabre Dogs baseball team is a member of the Coastal Plain League which is a summer Baseball League that is made up of teams from North Carolina South Carolina Virginia, and Georgia. The league is split into two divisions, the West Division and the East Division. The Sabre Dogs are members of the West Division along with the Asheboro Copperheads, the High Point Thomasville HiToms, the Lexington County Blowfish the Gastonia Grizzlies, and the Martinsville Mustangs.
