They’ve already racked up an impressive 16-3 record, with big wins against Mercyhurst University Millersville University and West Virginia Wesleyan College.
But it’s not just their on-field performance that makes Seton Hill University stand out – the team has a deep respect for their history and tradition. Founded in 1989, the Griffins have won two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships and made seven appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Head Coach Brittany Renz is determined to add to that legacy, and she’s got the perfect mix of experienced seniors and talented underclassmen to do it.

Seton Hill University Field hockey team has a long and successful history. The team started in the fall of 1976 and has been a varsity sport at the university ever since. The team has won numerous conference championships and has made several appearances in the NCAA tournament In recent years the team has made national headlines for its success on the field, its community involvement and its commitment to academic excellence.

The Seton Hill University Field Hockey Team has a long-standing rivalry with Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). The two teams have been playing each other since the 1970s and the matchup is always eagerly anticipated by both schools’ fans.
Seton Hill is a small, private university located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, about an hour east of Pittsburgh. IUP is a large public university located in Indiana, Pennsylvania, about an hour east of Pittsburgh. Both schools are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
The Seton Hill Griffins have won the PSAC championship four times (1981, 1982, 1983, 1984) while the IUP Crimson Hawks have won it six times (1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980). In recent years Seton Hill has had the upper hand in the rivalry, winning eight of the last ten meetings between the two teams.
The next time these two teams meet will be on October 13th, 2019 at Seton Hill’s Mollica Stadium. The game is sure to be a hot ticket and a great way to spend a fall Saturday afternoon.

Seton Hill University Field Hockey participates in the Womens Division II field Hockey League The Griffins compete against local teams such as Mercyhurst University, Gannon University and Edinboro University. Seton Hill has been in the league since 2006 and have had great success. The team has made it to the playoffs four times and won the conference championship in 2011.
