In recent years the Rangers have begun to produce an influx of professional talent. From 2000-2009, 12 Rangers were drafted by Major League Baseball teams, including 2 first round picks In 2010, that number jumped to 6, with 3 players going in the first round.
The most notable Ranger to reach the pros is outfielder Josh Hamilton who was drafted 1st overall by the Cincinnati Reds in 1999. Hamilton made his Major League debut in 2007 and quickly established himself as one of the best players in the game. He was named an All-Star 5 times and won the American League MVP Award in 2010.
