It was a season to remember for the SMU Baseball Team The Mustangs finished the year with a school-record 49 wins, claimed their first American Athletic Conference regular season title, and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.

But despite all of their success, the Mustangs’ season came to an end on Monday Night in heartbreaking fashion, as they fell to Florida State 8-7 in 11 innings in the Tallahassee regional final.

The loss capped off a memorable year for SMU, one that saw them achieve a number of firsts. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from the Mustangs’ 2018 campaign:

The Mustangs got off to a hot start to the season, winning 19 of their first 20 games. That included a stretch of 18 consecutive wins, which was the longest Winning Streak in school history.

SMU continued to roll through conference play finishing with a 20-4 record in The American to claim the regular season title. It was the first time that the Mustangs had ever won a conference title in baseball.

The Mustangs entered the NCAA tournament as The American’s automatic qualifier and were given the No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee regional. They won their first two games in Tallahassee to advance to the regional final, where they fell just short of victory against Florida State

The SMU baseball team had a season to remember in 2020. After starting the season with a 5-5 record, the Mustangs went on an absolutely magical run to capture the conference title

The Mustangs started their Conference Schedule with a three-game series against Tulane. They won the first game of the series 9-5, but then dropped the next two games by scores of 6-5 and 4-2. It looked like Tulane was going to be the team to beat in the conference, but SMU had other plans.

The Mustangs went on an absolute tear through the rest of their conference schedule, winning 18 of their final 20 games. They swept Houston, UCF, and Memphis to close out the Regular Season and then went on to win the conference tournament

In the NCAA tournament SMU kept their hot streak alive, winning their first two games against UC Irvine and Florida State Unfortunately, their season came to an end in the regional final against Texas Tech but they had nothing to be ashamed of.

The 2020 SMU Baseball Team will go down as one of the best in school history. They were led by a group of seniors who refused to give up when things looked bleak early in the season. It was truly a special year for Mustang Baseball

The Mustangs’ thrilling postseason run

The 2019 SMU baseball season was one to remember. After finishing the regular season with a record of 38-24, the Mustangs went on to make an incredible run in the postseason. They won the American Athletic Conference tournament and then made it all the way to the NCAA Super Regional where they narrowly lost to Texas Tech

Throughout the season, the Mustangs were led by their strong pitching staff. Their ace, ErikEMiddleton, had a stellar season, posting a record of 10-3 with a 2.48 ERA. The Mustangs will certainly be looking to build on their success next season and make another deep run in the postseason.

SMU’s 2019 baseball season came to an end on Tuesday night, as the Mustangs fell to Florida State in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional final. The loss brings an end to a special season for Head Coach Lindsey Meggs and his team, who overcame long odds to reach the regional final.

Entering the season, few expected much from the Mustangs, who were picked to finish last in the American Athletic Conference But SMU got off to a hot start, winning its first eight games of the season. The Mustangs kept winning throughout the year, eventually claiming the AAC Regular Season title.

SMU entered the NCAA tournament as a No. 4 seed, but proved its doubters wrong again by winning two games in the Tallahassee Regional. The Mustangs’ season came to an end with Tuesday’s loss, but it was still a campaign to remember for Meggs and his players.
