The Infield

The infield is the area of the field closest to home plate It is made up of four positions: first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, and third baseman. These positions are so named because they require the player to stand in specific locations on the field when Playing Defense The first baseman is responsible for the area near first base, the second baseman for second base, and so on.

The infielders must work together as a team to ensure that balls hit by the opposing team are fielded cleanly and thrown to the correct base in order to prevent runs from scoring. They must also be able to communicate effectively with each other in order to know where each player is positioned on the field at all times.

The Coaches

St. Joe’s Baseball Roster is excited to announce the addition of three new coaches for the upcoming season coach Steve will be taking on the role of Head Coach while Coach Tom and Coach Josh will be serving as assistant coaches We sat down with the new Coaching Staff to get to know them a little better and find out what they’re most looking forward to in the season ahead.

Coach Steve has been with St. Joe’s since the program’s inception back in 2001. He’s seen the team through some lean years, but is proud of the progress they’ve made in recent years “It’s been a lot of hard work but we’re starting to see results,” he said. “I’m looking forward to taking this team to the next level.”

Coach Tom is no stranger to St. Joe’s, having served as an Assistant Coach under both Coach Steve and previous head coach Mark. He’s excited to take on a more active role in leading the team this year. “I feel like I have a good pulse on what this team is capable of,” he said. “We have a lot of talent and I’m confident we can make some noise this season.”

Coach Josh is a newcomer to St. Joe’s, but comes with plenty of coaching experience at the High School and collegiate levels. He believes his experience can be a valuable asset for the team. “I’m excited to bring my knowledge of the game to St. Joe’s,” he said. “I think we have a lot of potential and I’m looking forward to helping this team reach its full potential.”
