The Stevens Basketball Program has a long and storied history of success. The team has won multiple conference championships and made several appearances in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament The program has produced numerous All-Conference and All-American players as well as several professional players.
The Stevens Basketball Program began in 1897 with the school’s first intercollegiate game against Rutgers University Since that time, the team has gone on to enjoy success at the conference and national level. In recent years the team has been led by Head Coach Mark Teixeira who has guided the team to multiple conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances.

The Stevens Basketball Program A Tradition of Winning
Since its founding over 125 years ago, Stevens Institute of Technology has developed a reputation as one of the finest engineering schools in the world. Located in New Jersey’s bustling Hudson River shoreline, Stevens sits at the heart of one of the world’s most innovative regions. The school’s 6,600 students come from 50 states and more than 60 countries to study HERE.
Just as Stevens is known for engineering, it is also renowned for its basketball program The men’s and women’s teams have a long tradition of winning, dating back to the early years of the sport. Today, Stevens is a Division III school that competes in the Empire 8 Conference. The men’s team has won nine conference championships and made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, while the women’s team has won six conference titles and made seven NCAA tournament appearances.
Under head coach Patrick Triano, who took over in 2016, the Stevens Basketball Program has continued its tradition of excellence. In his first season at the helm, Triano led the men’s team to a 21-7 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournament The women’s team also had a successful 2016-17 campaign, finishing 20-8 and reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament
With a new season set to begin, there is excitement surrounding both Stevens basketball teams The men’s team is ranked No. 23 in the country by D3hoops.com, while the women’s team is receiving votes in both national polls. Triano and his players are looking to build on last year’s success and make another deep run in the postseason. With strong returning rosters and talented newcomers joinign both squads, there is no reason to think that they won’t be able to do just that.
