The History of UW Platteville Baseball

UW Platteville Baseball has a long and rich history dating back to the late 1800s. The team has seen many Great players and teams come through its ranks over the years, and the tradition of excellence continues to this day.

Some of the most notable UW Platteville baseball alumni include Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Robin Roberts who played for the team from 1941-1942, and former Milwaukee Brewers All-Star catcher Darrell Porter, who played for UW Platteville from 1970-1971.

The team has also won numerous conference championships and made several appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series In recent years the team has continued to be one of the best in Division III baseball appearing in the World Series in 2013 and 2015.

UW Platteville Baseball is a proud tradition with a long history of success. The team continues to strive for excellence on and off the field, and its fans can be sure that they will always have a team to support that they can be proud of.

The Tradition of Excellence

The University of Wisconsin Platteville baseball team has a long tradition of excellence, dating back to its first season in 1892. The Pioneers have won 22 conference championships and have made four appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series. UW Platteville has produced many Major League Baseball players, including Hall of Famer Robin Roberts.

The Coaches

UW Platteville baseball has been coached by some of the most successful coaches in NCAA Division 3 history. Coach Dave Wells holds the record for the most wins by a coach in Division 3 history, while current Head Coach Pat Bloom was named the ABCA/Turbo Division 3 National Coach of the Year in 2016. Combined, these two coaches have over 1,600 career wins.

The Fans

The fans are the heartbeat of Platteville baseball. They come out toSupport the team regardless of the score and are always looking to have a good time. without the fans, Platteville baseball would not be nearly as special.

The Facilities

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball program has a long-standing tradition of excellence. The team has made 32 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and has won 13 Wisconsin collegiate athletic conference (WIAC) championships. The Pioneers have also produced 65 All-Americans, including current Major League baseball players Alex Claudio and Travis Shaw.

UW-Platteville plays its home games at Blaschka Memorial Field, located on the southwest side of campus. The field underwent a $2 million renovation in 2001 and can seat up to 1,000 spectators. The facility features a brick backstop, covered dugouts, and a press box with individual seating for media members and scorekeepers.

The Conference

The Midwest Conference (MWC) is a college Athletic Conference affiliated with the NCAA’s Division III The MWC was founded in 1912, making it the oldest continually existing conference in Illinois. The conference participates in the National Baseball Championship

UW Platteville has been a member of the West Conference since its founding in 1912. Currently, the conference consists of ten schools: Beloit College, Grinnell College Illinois College, Lake Forest College, Lawrence University Monmouth College, Ripon College, St. Norbert College Knox College and UW Platteville.

The Competition

UW Platteville competes in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The conference consists of UW-Eau Claire UW-Whitewater, Stout, La Crosse, Oshkosh, Platteville, Stevens Point and River Falls These eight teams play a doubleheader every weekend during conference play The WIAC is one of the most competitive conferences in Division III baseball

The future of UW Platteville Baseball looks bright as the team continues to recruit talented High School players from around the Midwest. The Coaching Staff is committed to developing each player to his fullest potential and helping him reach his goals, both on and off the field. The team has a strong tradition of success, and they are determined to keep that tradition alive for years to come.
