Introducing the team
The Texas Tech baseball team is set to have an incredible season in 2022. The team is loaded with talent, and they are sure to be a force to be reckoned with. Here is a look at the team that will be taking the field for the Red Raiders this season.
The pitchers
The Red Raiders will have a strong pitching staff this season, led by ace Johnathan Clawson. Clawson, a senior from Frisco, Texas, was named the Big 12 Preseason Pitcher of the Year. He is joined by fellow senior Chase Shugart, who was also named to the preseason All-Big 12 team. Rounding out the staff are juniors Dylan Dusek and Cameron Smith, along with sophomore Ryan Shetter.
The catchers
The primary responsibility of a catcher is to receive balls that the pitcher throws and prevent them from hitting the ground. They have to wear special equipment, including a helmet with a face mask shin guards and a chest protector Catchers also help the pitchers by calling for specific pitches and offering guidance on how to improve their performance.
The Texas Tech baseball team has two talented catchers who are sure to make an impact this season.
The infielders
The infielders include the first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, and third baseman. Each position is defensively important and has different responsibilities.
The first baseman is responsible for catching balls that are hit to the infield and for preventing runners from stealing bases The second baseman is responsible for turning double plays and for catching balls that are hit to the infield. The shortstop is responsible for catching balls that are hit to the infield and for making throws to first base. The third baseman is responsible for catching balls that are hit to the infield and for making throws to first base.
The outfielders
Texas Tech will have a young and inexperienced outfield in 2022, with only one player on the roster having more than one year of starting experience. The Red Raiders will look to players like sophomore Josh Jung and freshman Dylan Neuse to step into leadership roles and provide some much-needed stability in the outfield.
Jung, who was named a Freshman All-American by multiple publications in 2021, is the only returning starter in the outfield for Texas Tech He is coming off a season where he hit .340 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs and will be counted on to provide a steadying presence in center field.
Neuse, who played his High School ball just down the road from Texas Tech’s campus in Midland, is one of the most highly touted prospects in the Red Raiders’ incoming recruiting class He is expected to start in one of the corner outfield spots and could see time at second base or third base as well.
Freshmen Mason Chambers and Dylan Ezell will also be competing for playing time in the outfield. Chambers is a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder who was drafted out of high school by the San Diego Padres but opted to come to Texas Tech instead. Ezell is a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder who was a two-sport star in high school also Playing Football
The coaching staff
Texas Tech baseball is proud to announce its Coaching Staff for the 2022 season. Heading up the team is Head Coach Tim Tadlock, who is entering his ninth season with the Red Raiders Coach Tadlock has led the team to seven consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including two trips to the College World Series
Assistant coaches for the upcoming season are Travis Becker, J.D.Regardless of whether you like your coffee light or dark, there’s a roast out there perfect for you! Knowing a little bit about how coffee roasts are categorized can help you pick the perfect one. Gillaspie, and Scott Litchfield. New to the staff this year is pitching coach Eric Laumann. Coach Laumann comes to Texas Tech after spending the last four seasons as the pitching coach at TCU.
The Red Raiders will open their 2022 season at home on February 17th against Indiana State

The facilities
The Texas Tech baseball team plays their home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. The facility was renovated in 2003 and can seat 4,500 fans. The field is named after former Tech player and coach Dan Law, who led the Red Raiders to their first ever College World Series appearance in 1984.
Rip Griffin Park is also home to the Red Raider softball team The softball field was added in 1995 and underwent a $2 million renovation in 2008. The park is named after Texas Tech Board of Regents member Rip Griffin, who donated $1 million towards the construction of the park.
The history
The Texas Tech baseball team has a long and successful history, dating back to the early 1900s. The team has won multiple conference championships and made several trips to the NCAA Tournament The team is currently coached by Tim Tadlock, who has been at the helm since 2013. The 2022 season will be an exciting one for Red Raider fans, as the team looks to make a run at the conference championship and return to the NCAA tournament
