Former UNC Basketball players took to social media to share their excitement and congratulations after the Tar Heels won the National Championship

UNC’s Roy Williams says he talked to each of his former players before Saturday’s game against Duke. “I love those guys,” Williams said.

Tyler Hansbrough, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 Final Four, was all smiles after North Carolina’s 71-65 victory over Gonzaga in the Championship game
“It feels amazing,” he said. “I’m so proud of this team.”
Hansbrough, who played for the Tar Heels from 2005 to 2009, said he’s been following this year’s team closely and is proud of their achievement.
“They’ve worked so hard,” he said. “I’m just happy for them.”
Marcus Paige
Marcus Paige, one of UNC’s former players, had a lot to say about the team’s victory. Paige said that the team played with a lot of heart and that they never gave up. He also said that the team’s victory is a huge step forward for the program.
Joel Berry
UNC guard Joel Berry was all smiles after the Tar Heels’ victory over Duke.
“It feels good,” Berry said. “We worked so hard for this moment. I’m just happy we were able to come out and execute.”
Berry, who scored 20 points in the game, said the key to the victory was UNC’s focus.
“We just locked in,” he said. “We had a lot of energy from the start. We knew we had to come out and play hard.”
Former UNC forward Harrison Barnes now with the Sacramento Kings congratulated the Tar Heels on Twitter.
“#TarHeelNationfiredup,” Barnes tweeted.
Justin Jackson
Former UNC basketball player Justin Jackson took to Twitter to share his excitement for the Tar Heels’ victory against Duke. Jackson, who now plays for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings said that he was “glad [the team] could get the W for Coach Williams.”
Theo Pinson
In an interview with ESPN, former UNC basketball player Theo Pinson reacted to the Tar Heels’ victory over arch-rival Duke.
“It feels great,” Pinson said of the win. “We always want to beat Duke, no matter what the circumstance is.”
Pinson, who now plays for the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets also spoke about how much he still bleeds Carolina Blue
“I still stay in touch with a lot of the guys on the team,” he said. “I’m always rooting for them and I’m always happy when they win.”
Kennedy Meeks
Kennedy Meeks, a former player for the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team took to Twitter to express his excitement at the Tar Heels’ victory over Duke on Saturday.
“WORLD CHAMPS!!!! @UNC_Basketball,” Meeks tweeted.
Meeks, who now plays for the Charlotte Hornets was one of several former UNC players to react to the Big Win on social media

UNC’s Luke Maye has been a big story this year, coming out of nowhere to become one of the Tar Heels’ best players. After his game-winning shot against Kentucky in the NCAA tournament some of UNC’s former players took to Twitter to react to his clutch performance.

Coby White a former UNC basketball player reacted to the Tar Heels’ recent victory on Twitter. He said that he was “glad [the team] got the win.”
