The Ursuline Academy varsity basketball team won Friday’s away conference game against Fairfield Ludlowe by a score of 54-36.

In a hard fought game, the Ursuline Academy Varsity Basketball team defeated Fairfield Ludlowe by a score of 55-52. It was a close game throughout, with neither team leading by more than six points. Ursuline was led by senior captain Olivia Levey, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Junior point guard Emily Durocher had 15 points and seven assists. Senior forward Ellie Martin had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The victory was Ursuline’s fifth in a row, and improved their record to 9-3 on the season. They will next take on Ridgefield on Saturday.

Ursuline’s game plan was to maintain a strong defense and to control the tempo of the game. The team executed their game plan flawlessly and were able to come away with the victory.

Ludlowe (3-7) was led by Liam Jameson, who had 16 points, while Charlie Lewis added 12. Will Regan chipped in 11 and John Paulsson had 10 for the Falcons, who have now lost four straight games.

A beleaguered Fairfield Ludlowe boys basketball team fell to Ursuline, 65-52, on Monday Night
The Falcons (1-12, 0-9 FCIAC) trailed by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter but they made a late push and cut the lead to eight with under two minutes remaining.
“We just didn’t have enough fire power,” Ludlowe head coach Kevin Vagnone said. “We got outrebounded, which has been an ongoing thing. We had some good looks, but we didn’t knock them down.”
Ludlowe was led by senior captain Jack McCluskey, who had 16 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Matt Kronenberg added 15 points, and junior forward Will DREher had 11 rebounds.
“I thought our effort was good,” Vagnone said. “We just have to keep working and try to get better every day.”
What this game means for the season
The Ursuline Academy basketball team lost to Fairfield Ludlowe on Tuesday night, but the game meant much more for the season overall. The loss puts Ursuline’s record at 3-4 and drops them down to seventh place in the Conference Standings With only six games left in the regular season every game is now a must-win for Ursuline if they want to have a chance at qualifying for the conference tournament
This was a tough loss for Ursuline, as they led by nine points at halftime and by as many as 11 points in the second half. However, Fairfield Ludlowe went on a late run to take the lead and ultimately win the game. This loss will no doubt be a learning experience for Ursuline, and they will need to quickly Bounce Back if they want to have any chance of making the conference tournament

The Ursuline Bears Varsity basketball team defeated the Fairfield Ludlowe Falcons on Tuesday night with a score of 45-38. With this win, the Bears move to 7-4 on the season and 5-2 in the conference.
The next game for Ursuline will be at home against Ridgefield on Friday, January 31st. The game is set to tip-off at 7:00 PM.
