VHSL Boys Basketball Brackets
The VHSL Boys Basketball brackets are out and there are some great match-ups to look forward to! In the 6A bracket, top-seeded Fairfax will take on crosstown rival Robinson in the first round. The winner of that game will face off against the winner of Westfield and South County. In the 5A bracket, Loudoun Valley is the top seed and they will take on George Mason in the first round. The winner of that game will go on to play the winner of Stuart and Western Albemarle. There are sure to be some great games in both brackets so be sure to follow along!

VHSL Basketball Tournament Schedule
The VHSL Basketball Tournament schedule has been released! The first games will be played on February 26th and the Championship game will be played on March 9th.
VHSL Basketball Tournament Locations
The Virginia High School League has released the brackets for the girls and boys Basketball Tournaments The tournaments will be held at various locations around the state, with the girls playing from February 25 to March 7 and the boys playing from March 3 to 14.
VHSL Basketball Tournament Seeding
The seeding for the VHSL Basketball Tournament has been released, and it’s sure to cause some excitement among fans! The top seeds in each region are:
In the East, it’s #1 seed George Washington vs. #16 seed Heritage.
In the West, it’s #1 seed Oakton vs. #16 seed Loudoun County
In the Central, it’s #1 seed E.C. Glass vs. #16 seed Amherst County.
In the South, it’s #1 seed Maury vs. #16 seed Nansemond River.
VHSL Basketball Tournament Format
The VHSL Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination tournament held annually to determine the state champion of high school basketball in Virginia. The tournament is open to all public and private high schools in the state that are members of the VHSL.
The tournament bracket is released on Sunday night following the conclusion of the regular season and the first round of games is played on Tuesday night. The quarterfinals are played on Friday Night with the semifinals being played on Saturday afternoon. The Championship game is played on Saturday night.
All games are played at a neutral site, and all four rounds of the tournament are held at one location (known as a “region”). The four regions are West (Roanoke), Central (Lynchburg), East (Richmond), and Hampton Roads (Norfolk).
VHSL Basketball Tournament History
The VHSL basketball tournament began in 1955 with just eight teams. It has since expanded to include four times as many teams, making it one of the largest high school tournaments in the country. From its humble beginnings, the VHSL Basketball Tournament has grown into a highlycompetitive event that attracts athletes and fans from all over Virginia.
The tournament is divided into four divisions: A, AA, AAA, and AAAA. Each division is further divided into regions. The top two teams from each region advance to the divisional tournament, which is a single-elimination event. The divisional tournament culminates in the VHSL Basketball Championship game, which is held at a neutral site.
In recent years the VHSL Basketball Tournament has been dominated by teams from the Northern Region. Of the last ten AAAA championships, nine have been won by teams from the Northern Region. In AA, Northern Region teams have won seven of the last Ten Championships In AAA, Northern Region teams have won six of the last ten championships.

The VHSL basketball tournament is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Here are some tips to make sure you are prepared for the big event.
-Make sure you know the VHSL bracket rules. The tournament is single elimination, so once you lose, you’re out.
-Be familiar with the seedings. The top seed in each division gets a bye in the first round.
-Know where your team is playing. The tournament is spread out across Virginia, so you’ll need to know where your team is playing in order to make travel arrangements.
-Get your tickets early! The tournament tends to sell out, so make sure you get your tickets as soon as they become available.
