The Newcomers on the 2019 Virginia Baseball Roster

The 2019 Virginia Baseball Roster is filled with plenty of fresh faces, as Head Coach Kevin McAvoy has brought in a total of 14 newcomers to Charlottesville. These 14 players come from all over the country, with six different states represented. In terms of position breakdown, the Cavaliers have added six pitchers (three lefties, three righties), one catcher, four infielders and three outfielders. There are also 11 freshmen and three transfers on the 2019 roster.

The Veterans on the 2019 Virginia Baseball Roster

The University of Virginia Cavaliers compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Virginia baseball team is one of the original Division I college baseball programs in the United States beginning play in 1889. The program has appeared in 27 NCAA Tournaments and advanced to 13 College World Series including six CWS Championship rounds. As of the end of the 2018 season, Virginia ranks fourth among all Division I Baseball programs in winning percentage (.601), trailing only Florida State (.608), Texas (.601), and Vanderbilt (.601). Three former UVa baseball players have been inducted into the college baseball Hall of Fame Emmett Ashford, Joe Wood, and Robert O’Connor.

The 2019 Virginia Baseball Roster is here, and it’s packed with talented pitchers! From established veterans to promising young players this team has a deep pitching staff that should be able to compete at the highest levels.

Headlining the group is ace pitcher Connor Jones who is coming off a strong 2018 campaign in which he posted a 3.42 ERA and struck out 87 batters in 100 innings pitched Jones will be joined by another experienced starter in Stefan Lopez, who also had a solid 2018 season and should provide stability in the rotation.

The bullpen will be anchored by closer Haydon Mathews, who had an impressive 2018 season with a 1.93 ERA and 11 saves. He’ll be joined by a number of other talented relievers, including new addition Daniel Lynch, who comes to Virginia from Louisville.

With a mix of experience and youth, the 2019 Virginia baseball team has the potential to be one of the best in recent memory. Be sure to follow their progress throughout the season!

The catchers on the 2019 Virginia baseball roster are Scotty Bradley, Logan Michaels, and Riley Wilson. Bradley is a graduate transfer from North Carolina Wilmington. Michaels is a graduate transfer from Howard. Wilson is a sophomore transfer from Randolph College.

The Outfielders on the 2019 Virginia Baseball Roster

The 2019 Virginia baseball season is underway and the roster is set! Here is a look at the outfielders that will be take the field for the Cavaliers this year.

One of the most experienced players on the team, senior outfielder Nate Eikhoff will once again be a key contributor for the Cavaliers. A two-time ACC honorable mention, Eikhoff is a career .274 hitter with 11 home runs and 63 RBIs. He will likely hit in the middle of the lineup and anchor the outfield defensively.

Junior outfielder Connor Jones had a breakout season in 2018, setting career highs in batting average (.296), home runs (5), and RBIs (29). He will look to build on that success this year and will be counted on to provide some power at the plate.

Sophomore outfielder Alex Tappen had a strong freshman campaign, hitting .288 with two home runs and 18 RBIs. He will look to continue his development this year and could be in line for a bigger role in 2019.

Rounding out the outfielders on the roster are redshirt sophomore Logan Michaels and freshmen Dylan Ingram and AndrewAbbott. Michaels saw limited action last year but will look to make an impact this season, while Ingram and Abbott will look to make their mark as they begin their collegiate careers.

The 2019 Virginia Cavaliers baseball team is looking to build on last year’s success, and they’ll have a new look when they take the field. Here’s a closer look at the team’s 2019 roster:

· catcher: Sophomore Adonis Medina will be the team’s primary catcher after appearing in 21 games last season.

· first baseman: Junior transfer Sam Endsley comes to Virginia from East Carolina and is expected to start at first base.

· second baseman: Junior Tanner Dalton is the team’s returning starter at second base.

· third baseman: Redshirt sophomore Nate Eikhoff is the team’s projected starter at third base.

· shortstop: Freshman Chris Newell comes to Virginia as a highly touted recruit and is expected to start at shortstop.

· outfielders: The Cavaliers have a wealth of talent in the outfield, with junior Justin Novak and sophomores Tanner Groves and Cameron Simmons expected to see significant playing time
