The Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Team defeated the Florida Gators 9-3 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 31-15 on the season. It was the Vols’ fifth consecutive win, and seventh in their last eight games.
Sophomore right fielder Jay Charleston led the way for Tennessee, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Freshman Left fielder Luke Ritter added two hits and two RBIs, and senior center fielder Max Schuemann also had two hits.
On the mound, freshman starter Garrett Crochet picked up his fourth win of the season, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits in 6.1 innings of work. sophomore relief pitcher Connor Darling pitched the final 2.2 innings to earn his first save of the year.
With the win, the Volunteers moved into a tie for second place in the SEC East standings with Florida, trailing only Georgia. Tennessee will face Florida again on Sunday at 1:00pm ET in the rubber match of the three-game series
